General Hospital fans haven’t seen Finola Hughes’ Anna Devane for quite a while on the soap. Since then, fans are wondering when they will see her back in Port Charles, especially considering what happened in her latest storyline. Her return date has been announced, with the series writers even teasing some of her upcoming storylines.
Finola Hughes Was Last Seen In General Hospital Back In February, Although Anna Got A Nod Back In May
In the world of soaps, Hughes is famous for playing Anna Devane on General Hospital, first appearing on the series in 1985. She also played the character, as well as her twin sister, Alex, on All My Children.
Over the years, Hughes has also become famous for a variety of shows, including Charmed, Blossom, and How Do I Look?
Recently, Anna has been away from the soap, with fans last seeing her back in February. When Anna last appeared on General Hospital, she was in a French psychiatric facility. She was being treated after being injected with hallucinogenic drugs by Cullum.
At the time, Cullum’s scheme was to keep Anna from interfering with a cold fusion project that he and Sidwell were trying to complete. This project was originally developed by Anna’s nemesis, the late Cesar Faison.
Despite this, Anna has been mentioned by other characters. Back in May, Laura told Emma that her grandmother had escaped and nearly made it to Switzerland before she was caught. She has since been transferred to a higher-security facility. However, Willow agreed to intervene for her, having her moved to another facility.
Anna Could Prove To Play A Big Part In One Couple’s Ongoing Love Story
Recent previews claim that Anna will be back on the soap on June 24. According to Soap Opera Digest, head writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten shared that Anna “has the goods on Cassius but struggles to get the word out while institutionalized in France.” Fans would also “begin to see the long-term effects of her imprisonment and gaslighting at Cullum’s hands.”
As the writers cautioned, “Any happy reunions with friends and family are colored by counsel from a less-than-reliable source. We’ll see echoes of Anna’s earliest incarnation as she returns to Port Charles with deadly intentions.”
It was also teased that Anna would prove to be an important figure in a few other characters’ storyline. The summer preview teased the blossoming romance between Carly and Anna’s former lover, Valentin. Etten mused that the couple’s future will be “at the mercy of the WSB… as well as the multitude of people back in Port Charles who can’t stand Valentin… and one who can – Anna Devane.”
