He covered major hurricanes, including Hurricane Sandy, during his first run at GMA. He left for a gig at the Weather Channel but returned to Good Morning America as a fill-in host. The fan favorite also returned to WABC-TV as the weekday weather anchor. Sam Champion took to social media this week with a throwback photo to honor his co-worker.
