Haylie Duff has called it quits with her fiancé of 12 years, Matt Rosenberg. While the moment is likely disappointing for the “Material Girls” actress, social media users don’t appear sympathetic about their sudden split. Haylie’s spot in the limelight comes months after her sister, Hilary, publicly roasted her in a song off her latest album, “Luck… or Something.”
Haylie Duff Splits From Her Fiancé After A 12-Year Engagement
Haylie is certainly going through it right now, as a source told Page Six that she and Rosenberg called it quits “around the first of the year.” The actress and mother of two is reportedly asking “for privacy at this time in protection of her young daughters.”
For those who need a refresher, Haylie and Rosenberg became engaged on April Fool’s Day in 2014. Years later, in 2021, Haylie opened up about the delay in tying the knot, stating that she and Rosenberg already felt connected in more ways than one.
“We feel married in a lot of ways. I mean, we couldn’t be more married if we tried,” she said. “We’ve got two kids and couldn’t be more married if we tried, but I think both of us envisioned doing it in Texas, and so now that we’re here, the conversations are happening a little more often than they were before.”
Haylie Duff Said Having A Wedding After Birting Her Daughters Would Be Difficult

Haylie and Rosenberg were scheduled to jump the broom years ago; however, the pair halted the wedding due to the birth of their children. Haylie further said that if they were to do a wedding, it wouldn’t be a grand ceremony.
“I just probably won’t be in, like, a big wedding dress like I thought I would,” she said. “I think, like, we’re older, first of all, too, you know, both of our kids would be there. I think it’s been reimagined a little bit, which is exciting.”
In a separate interview with PEOPLE, Haylie got candid about being the opposite of her partner, Rosenberg, admitting to being “very different in a lot of ways.”
Despite that, the actress said she felt at peace with him once he bonded with her family. “… that’s when I was like, ‘Okay, so not only do I love him, but they love him too.’ And I feel like that’s the way it’s supposed to be,” she said.
Social media users are reacting to the news of Haylie’s failed engagement, roasting the 41-year-old for being in a “situationship with a ring.”
“Engagements should be under 12 months,” someone wrote, while another said, “Bro finally saw the light.”
“12 year engagement is insane,” another said, while someone else posted, “He ain’t buying the pig after he got the bacon for free.”
Other users mentioned Haylie’s ongoing beef with her sister, “Lizzie McGuire” alum Hilary Duff. “Go against Hilary, it’s gonna cost you,” a user wrote, and another criticized her for allegedly cutting “off all ties to your own sister for a man that couldn’t actually commit and LEFT.”
Haylie Is Feuding With Her Famous Sister, Hilary

Eagle-eyed social media sleuths have noticed the distance between Hilary and her sister Haylie for years. In 2026, Hilary confirmed their speculation, revealing that she and Haylie don’t speak, according to The Blast.
“And I think in my adulthood I’ve come across more and more people that are having this experience,” she said. “I hope it’s not forever, but it’s for right now.”
Hilary got candid about their fallout in her song, “We Don’t Talk,” which features the lyrics, “We don’t talk / We don’t talk, talk about it / We don’t talk about anything anymore.”
“That’s my truth. And I really worked hard to lyrically make sure that I’m just speaking about my experience, you know?” Hilary said while promoting her new project.
Hilary Was Nervous For Her Sister To Hear The Song

In a separate interview, Hilary opened up about why she chose to air her personal grievances with her sister publicly, admitting that she wanted to be real about her story.
“I don’t know how she’ll react to it. But it is a really personal part of my life that doesn’t get to stay personal, so I might as well say how it is for me as an experience,” she said.
