Carly Simon paid tribute to Clive Davis on Instagram this week, and the words she chose say more about the man than a thousand formal obituaries ever could.
Davis passed away, and the music world is feeling it. Simon’s tribute cuts different, though. She didn’t reach for safe, polished words. She called him “the gentlest, prickliest, most lovable, most ferocious pussycat around.” That contradiction says everything.
