Despite a ferocious opening partnership between Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli that had RCB cruising at 114/0, Hyderabad’s trademark death bowling squeezed the host nation. Their playoff run began with a heartbreaking loss to Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1, where Faf du Plessis played a magical knock to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Forced into Qualifier 2, Rashid Khan put on a legendary all-round masterclass against KKR, smashing a quick-fire 34 before taking 3 wickets and claiming two crucial catches to push SRH into the final.
