Al Hilal came from behind to take a step towards a potential double as they beat Al Kholood 2-1 in the Kings’ Cup final.
Simone Inzaghi’s men showed their resilience to win their first trophy with the Italian in charge after Al Kholood, seeking a first major trophy, took a surprise early lead.
It marks a third King’s Cup in four seasons for Al Hilal, and the 12th in their history.
Al Hilal, who trail Al-Nassr by five points with a game in hand in the Saudi Pro League title race, fell behind in the fourth minute when Ramiro Enrique showed great composure to control Hattan Bahebri’s lofted pass and then lash home.
Nasser Al Dawsari levelled in the 42nd minute with a brilliant half-volley, and the turnaround was completed in first-half stoppage time by Theo Hernandez.
Hernandez found the bottom-right corner with an unerring low drive, though he was later forced off through injury.
Al Hilal will hope that injury is not anything serious, as they now must turn their attention to a season-defining contest with Al Nassr on Tuesday as they aim to successfully reclaim the Pro League title, having surrendered it to Al Ittihad last season.
That prospect has looked unlikely for much of the season, but a win over Al Nassr would move them to within two points of the leaders and give Inzaghi’s men control of the title race.
A double would mark a second in three seasons for Al Hilal, who achieved the feat in 2023-24.
