Hugh Jackman may have long settled his divorce from ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness, but the awkwardness still lingers, especially with how he has been flaunting his romance with Sutton Foster.
However, it seems Furness now wants to quell the tension as a new report claims she has requested that all of them meet up in hopes of setting aside their differences.
Hugh Jackman was previously slammed for taking Sutton Foster to the Met Gala earlier this month, with sources saying the move felt like a “knife to the heart” for his ex-wife.
Jackman and Foster have been left “blindsided” by a sudden but meaningful request from his ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness.
The “Wolverine” actor was in a 27-year marriage with Furness before announcing that they were amicably separating in September 2023.
They went on to settle their divorce in June 2025, 6 months after Jackman went public on his relationship with Foster.
Reports suggest the Australian actress now wants to meet her in a bid for them to quell tensions and just move forward, but the news first left Jackman and the Broadway star surprised.
“This isn’t about Deb being angry or wanting to read Sutton the riot act. It’s about closure,” a source recently told New Idea Magazine.
Deborra-Lee Furness Doesn’t Want To Cause Problems For The Couple
According to the publication, Furness initially swore off the idea of ever speaking to the couple. However, she realizes it’s a necessary move if the tension and awkwardness between them must be put out.
“For the longest time, Deb swore off the idea of even being in the same room as Sutton,” the insider continued. “But at this point it feels like something she needs to check off her list, if only to put an end to the awkwardness… also so she can speak her truth.”
What has left Furness shaken is how the lovebirds have been cozily parading themselves around town and visiting the spots she and the Oscar winner used to go.
“Watching Hugh and Sutton parade around the city, openly flaunting their romance and mingling with all the same people they used to socialize with as a couple, is incredibly painful and humiliating,” the source explained.
“It might be easier to take if they weren’t constantly all over each other,” they added.

Meanwhile, Jackman and Foster don’t seem to have any intent to slow down at all, as their love continues to intensify.
They’ve been spotted several times publicly packing on the PDA and even sparked rumors that they’ve moved in together.
They cemented their status earlier this month when they appeared at the Met Gala, but one person who wasn’t happy about it was Furness.
Jackman and his ex-wife, Furness, made appearances at the event together throughout their nearly thirty years of marriage, and seeing him go to the glamorous gathering with Foster left her devastated.
“Deb had been warned Hugh would be appearing with Sutton, but it still felt like a knife to the heart seeing them there,” a source told New Idea Magazine.
“This was her and Hugh’s ‘big night out’ for the year, and they were there side-by-side, just like Sutton is today, just four years ago,” the source added.

Meanwhile, Jackman and Furness attempted to avoid any awkward bumping into each other at events and agreed to alternate Met Gala appearances following their split.
According to the publication, the source explained that the arrangement was made before his relationship with Foster got this serious.
“They were regulars at the Met Gala; it was one of her favorite nights out,” the source explained.
“In fact, when they split, they agreed to ‘split custody’ of the Met Gala, go on alternate years, but that was before anyone knew about Sutton,” they added.
Deborra-Lee Furness Hoped Her Ex-Husband Would Attend The Event ‘Solo’
Furness completely skipped the Met Gala this year after their breakup, as she was still dealing with the sad state of their relationship.
The Aussie actress reportedly hoped her ex-husband would continue appearing alone, but seeing him with Foster is said to have left her disheartened.
“Part of her hoped he might have gone solo again, so it adds an extra layer of hurt that Hugh’s so willing to pave over their historic nights out with new memories,” a source shared.
The Met Gala incident occurred after it was revealed that Jackman and Furness are still struggling to sell their marital home in New York, causing renewed strain in their post-divorce relationship.
