Inter Milan remain on course for a domestic double after Hakan Calhanoglu inspired the Serie A champions-elect to a 3-2 win over Como in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals.
Twelve points clear of AC Milan with five games to go, Inter are near-certainties to win the Scudetto, and they can look forward to a final against either Lazio or Atalanta into the Coppa Italia after a dramatic night at San Siro.
Having held the Nerazzurri to a 0-0 draw in the first leg, Como seemingly had the the tie under control after Martin Baturina and Lucas Da Cunha put them 2-0 in front inside 48 minutes.
But Calhanoglu’s deflected strike from the edge of the area gave Inter hope, before the Turk headed home Petar Sucic’s superb-left wing cross to make it 2-2 four minutes from the end of normal time.
Three minutes later he returned the favour as Inter completed a remarkable turnaround, his lay-off gratefully collected by Sucic, who found the bottom-right corner to send the home fans into raptures.
Lens end 28-year wait
In the Coupe de France, Lens progressed to the final for the first time since 1998 as they cruised to a 4-1 win over Toulouse.
Lens are still firmly in the mix for what would be a stunning double. They are a point behind Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1, and will now contest a cup final against either Strasbourg or Nice after an emphatic victory at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.
Florian Thauvin’s ninth-minute penalty gave Lens the lead before Allan Saint-Maximin doubled the advantage with a fine strike from the edge of the area.
Santiago Hidalgo then gave Toulouse hope before Matthieu Udol restored the two-goal buffer for Lens, whose victory was assured 16 minutes from the end of normal time by Adrien Thomasson.
Betis cement grip on fifth
Real Madrid moved within six points of LaLiga leaders Barcelona, who face Celta Vigo on Wednesday, with a 2-1 win over Alaves at the Santiago Bernabeu. Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior were on target for the hosts.
Betis are five points clear of Celta Vigo in the race for fifth place and the potential extra Champions League spot after winning a topsy turvy encounter at Girona 3-2.
Viktor Tsyhankov put Girona in front in the seventh minute, before Marc Roca and Abde Ezzalzouli turned the game in Betis’ favour.
Azzedine Ounahi’s penalty restored parity, but Rodrigo Riquelme slotted home the winner 10 minutes from the end of normal time.
Meanwhile, Gorka Guruzeta scored the only goal of the game as Athletic Club beat Osasuna in a Basque derby to boost their European hopes.
Ante Budimir missed a second-half penalty for Osasuna, who could not take advantage in stoppage time after Athletic saw Mikel Jauregizar sent off for a second bookable offence. Athletic are just three points behind Celta Vigo in sixth.
In the fight against relegation, Mallorca and Valencia played out a 1-1 draw at Son Moix.
