Olivia Rodrigo recently made an appearance on Saturday Night Live as its latest host. During her opening monologue, she shared a few words about internet personality-turned-boxer Jake Paul, with whom she shares a bit of a work history. Since then, Jake Paul has shared a response of his own on social media.
Olivia Rodrigo & Jake Paul Previously Worked Together For Disney
Singer and actress Olivia Rodrigo recently took on hosting duties for Saturday Night Live. The star, who worked for Disney Channel early in her career, mentioned her time as a child actress during her monologue.
Thanks to one of these earliest projects, Rodrigo actually found herself working alongside influencer Jake Paul, who is the brother on internet personality Logan Paul. Since his time on the show, fans have also seen Jake embrace a career in boxing.
As Rodrigo shared, “When I was 13, I was on a Disney show called Bizaardvark, and we had an incredible cast, which included acting legend, Jake Paul.” The singer then reflected on her and her former co-star’s careers.
Rodrigo shared, “And we’d always talk about our futures, me and Jake. I’d say, ‘I really wanna create music that explores the complexities of girls my age.’ And he’d say, ‘Well, one day I really wanna beat up old guys on Netflix.’”
Paul Also Shared A Response To Commenters Who Think He Didn’t Get The Joke
This was in reference to Paul’s 2024 fight with Mike Tyson that was streamed around the world on Netflix. Rodrigo concluded her joke, noting, “And we both did it, hooray!”
The following Sunday, the joke got a response from Paul himself. Taking to X, he took the joke with good humor and assured his former co-star that there was no hard feelings. As he wrote, “We had the vision [crying laughing emoji] i told you that you would sell stadiums out and then we both did proud of you fr [for real].”

Taking to the comments, some mused that Paul didn’t seem to realize that the joke might not have been intended to be flattering. However, Paul himself acknowledged this and stood by his response, sharing, “I got that she was making a joke at my expense. So what. She’s on SNL and that’s what they are supposed to do. Doesn’t change my admiration of her and her success.”

On Disney’s Bizaardvark, Rodrigo and Madison Hu played a pair of best friends who make viral videos. Paul played Dirk Mann, who starred in his own fictitious “Dare Me Bro” series, where his character takes on all sorts of requests. Paul ultimately left the show during its second season.
