Jelly Roll has always taken the time to visit inmates amid tour stops as he wants to inspire them after the life that he has lived. Now, he is transforming one of his visits into a music video, and fans are ready for this. Keep reading for all of the details.
Jelly Roll Makes A Memorable Prison Stop
Since Jelly Roll spent time behind bars, he wanted to inspire fellow inmates. He has made all of his dreams come true as he found immense success. Jelly was locked up when his first child, Bailee Ann, was born, and that was a hard pill to swallow. Then, he was able to land full custody of her and raise her along with his former wife, Bunnie Xo. He got to be a part of so much of Bailee’s life, and he does not take any of that for granted. Additionally, Jelly secured his family’s future, something that has been an incredible blessing.
Therefore, he has made it a mission to stop at jails and detention centers to share that anything is possible. Where there is a will, there is a way, and he is the poster child for that. Keeping that theme in mind, Jelly Roll needed to shoot a music video for his latest single, “Hands Up.” So, he headed to San Quentin Rehabilitation Center, where Johnny Cash performed in 1958. Jelly gave a sneak peek on social media and wrote:
“These are not actors. This is not a movie set.”
He wanted to make it clear that this is real life and what viewers are seeing is authentic. The video is all black and white, with a classic feel. Finally, he is trying to explain what life is like behind bars; what people do not understand or always see. “Hands Up” came out amid Jelly’s split from his wife of a decade, Bunnie Xo. This shocked their fans, as they seemed to adore one another. However, there were more cracks than many knew, and that made the relationship crumble.
