Did Jersey Shore star Ronnie Magro-Ortiz relapse amid a major red carpet moment? The final season of Family Vacation is set to premiere on May 7th, and the cast has to do press to promote it. Yet, it appears Ronnie was anything but ready for one event. Keep reading for more details as to what happened and how this could impact him going forward.
Ronnie Magro-Ortiz Has Struggled With Sobriety
The Jersey Shore cast spent many summers partying it up and drinking into oblivion. Nearly every night of filming, they were either calling a cab or walking to the nearest hotspot, either in New Jersey or the season’s location. They filmed in Miami, Italy, and always tried to live their best lives. Fights often ensued due to the excessive amounts of alcohol they were drinking, but some ended up realizing they needed to change. Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino has completely turned his life around, written a book, and opened a treatment facility. His co-star, Ronnie Magro-Ortiz, also sought out help.
Viewers saw him have an explosive temper and then come back down, leading to tears. He entered rehab in 2019 for depression and alcohol, and, by then, he had a daughter whom he adored. In 2022, he claimed he was one year sober, which was huge. Ronnie was much more of a presence on Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, and now, the cast is promoting the final season. He attended a red carpet event on Thursday, April 23rd, with his co-stars. However, the 40-year-old was allegedly too drunk to speak to reporters. Per an insider:
“He took photos on the carpet at the start, but then he was taken away while everyone did the press line. Ronnie was wasted, so the team made the decision not to let him talk to anyone.”
Allegedly, this continued on into the following day. The cast had more interviews and press to do, and they were all seen going into the offices together. Ronnie Magro-Ortiz was noticeably missing, but when he did appear, he seemed off.
Drama With Ron
Last month, police had been called to Ronnie Magro-Ortiz’s Miami, Florida home over a domestic dispute. His now ex-girlfriend, Kristen, phoned the cops, but per the Jersey Shore star’s rep:
“He was in the process of separating from his long term girlfriend, and it was at his request for her to call the police to ensure that the separation/moving out was peaceful, and because he’s been the recipient of falsehoods in the past, and is in a really good place and didn’t want there to be any unnecessary drama.”
So, Ronnie was already dealing with personal issues, and now he was out doing press. He likely did not want to answer any questions regarding the dispute. Now, he has to answer for his alleged “wasted” red carpet behavior.
Do you think that Ronnie Magro-Ortiz has officially relapsed or just had a slip? Moreover, will he be able to address any of his demons before the final season of Jersey Shore premieres? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
