Joseph Duggar has been under fire after being accused of child molestation in the state of Florida. As his trial draws closer, more details are being disclosed. Now, we know who will stand as witnesses for Joseph. Keep reading to find out what we know so far.
Joseph Duggar’s Impending Trial
31-year-old Joseph Duggar is out on a $600,000 bond after being arrested in March of this year. Apparently, back in 2020 while on vacation, he molested a nine-year-old girl in Panama City Beach. Law enforcement says that Joseph admitted to the crimes initially; however, he has since pled not guilty.
Of course, this is a tough time for everyone involved, including Joseph’s family. The family has decided to not only sell their family home but also several of their belongings. Not to mention, Kendra has experienced significant health issues. While Joseph is out on bond, there are still strict rules in place to protect minors from him. He is obviously not allowed to have any unsupervised contact with minors. This includes his own children. Understandably so, he also has to stay 500ft away from his victim.
Despite how difficult this is for the family, the trial date just gets closer and closer. This means that more and more details are coming out about what is going to happen and who is going to speak.
Who Will Stand As Witnesses?
As previously reported, there are technically five witnesses for this trial. However, considering the victim is very young and was even younger when this crime took place, Joseph’s lawyer is making it sound like there are really only four witnesses.
“There are only five witnesses listed in the case, one of which is of course the juvenile alleged victim, so realistically we’re looking at only four witnesses to be deposed minus any court order allowing a deposition of the alleged victim,” the lawyer says.
However, now the witnesses have been made known. According to The Sun, Darrell “Chase” Norris, Christina Caldwell, Paul Gene Caldwell, and Thomas Lowe will all be questioned. So, who are these people? Currently, it is not known what connection Thomas has to the case. Christina and Paul, however, are actually family members. They are the parents of Joseph’s wife, Kendra Duggar.
Earlier this month, Joseph was set to have a court hearing; however, he did not show up in person. Instead, his attorney, Albert J. Sauline III, represented him.
Now, he will return to court on September 15.
It will certainly be interesting to see how this all plays out. If found guilty, Joseph will spend the rest of his days behind bars.
