Earlier this month, Josh Duggar was transferred to a medical center from prison, where he’s been serving time for years. This move caused a lot of questions around the former reality TV star. However, before those questions got fully answered, he’s on the move once again. Keep reading for all the details on what we know about the situation so far.
Josh Duggar’s First Transfer
Followers of Josh Duggar’s story were confused to find out he had been emergency transferred from the prison he was serving time in to a medical facility. Generally, these transfers only happen when there is something very wrong with the prisoner that the prison can’t fix on their own. However, according to Josh, he was totally fine.
On a call with his lawyer, Josh shared that he was “not sick with any illness” at the time of his move. Because of this, his lawyer thinks that the whole thing may have been retaliation.
Apparently, they found some flaws in the system that they brought up during a recent hearing. Josh’s lawyer thinks this could be enough for them to move him, which is apparently not a very pleasant experience.
However, that wasn’t the only transfer they put him through.
On The Move Again
Josh has once again been moved The Sun reports. This time, he went to the Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City. However, it’s still uncertain where he will actually end up or how long he will be at the transfer center. Apparently, this transfer center simply serves as a holding place while prisoners move between prisons. There is one nice thing about this move though: he is actually closer to home.
Right now, his family is living in Tontitown, Arkansas. The prison he has served in since 2022 is located in Seagoville, Texas. Seagoville is 350 miles from Tontitown, while this transfer hub is only 218 miles from his family.
Despite the small glimmer of hope he likely has of being closer to his family, he will still be serving time in prison for years to come. He was found guilty in 2021 of possessing and receiving child sexual abuse materials. He was given a 12-year sentence then, meaning he won’t be out until 2033. And at that point, he will likely be facing several years of supervised, probationary periods.
For now, it’s still unclear as to why they are moving him so much or where exactly he is headed. Only time will tell if his lawyer stands behind his original theory of this being retaliation.
