Kanye West has put his planned France concert on hold as pressure builds over whether he should even be allowed into the country.

The rapper announced that his Marseille show would be postponed just as French officials were reportedly considering blocking his entry over his past antisemitic remarks.

The decision adds another setback to his comeback tour, which has already faced fresh scrutiny in Europe over his recent controversies.

Kanye West has officially postponed his upcoming show in Marseille, France, after concerns grew that French authorities could block him from entering the country.

The 48-year-old was originally set to perform on June 11 at Stade Vélodrome as part of his 2026 comeback tour.

Instead of waiting for a final decision from French leadership, West announced that he was stepping back from the show himself.

In a message shared on X Tuesday night, he wrote, “After much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille, France until further notice.”

Fans were disappointed with the update but some still showed support to the musician. “Smart move taking the high road, Ye. Don’t let them bully you out of the whole tour. Fans got your back everywhere else,” person wrote.

Another commented, “Your decision is respected and hope you can play without all the unnecessary criticism,” while a third person added, “Respect the reflection, Ye. Real ones know the music hits different when the energy’s right. Take your time fans will be here when it’s back on.”

While confirming the postponement, Kanye West also addressed his fans directly and framed the decision as an effort to keep them out of the growing controversy.

In a follow-up post, he acknowledged the long road he faces in rebuilding trust.

“I know it takes time to understand the sincerity of my commitment to make amends I take full responsibility for what’s mine but I don’t want to put my fans in the middle of it,” West wrote, adding, “My fans are everything to me Looking forward to the next shows See you at the top of the globe.”

In no time, the comments section was flooded with angry critics who took turns to slam West.

“This ain’t fixing all the hatred you spouted,” one person wrote. A second person shared, “If you truly care about your fans you would do the right thing and apologize like you actually mean it for the first time in your life.”

A third person commented, “Ain’t no one gaf what you gotta say, mentally unstable or not sh-t like that should’ve NEVER been said…the way you still have a platform is beyond me.”

The postponement came after reports that France was actively considering banning Kanye West from performing in the country.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marseille Mayor Benoît Payan and French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez both argued that the rapper should not be welcomed into France.

Their concerns centered on West’s past antisemitic remarks and his decision to release a song last year titled “Heil Hitler.”

Reportedly, Payan opposed the event, saying he would not “allow Marseille to be a showcase for those who promote hatred and unapologetic Nazism.”

He previously declared that West was “not welcome” at the stadium, which he described as a symbol of unity for the city.

Similarly, Nuñez revealed he was “very determined” to stop West’s planned Marseille concert.

France is not the first European country where Kanye West’s comeback plans have run into serious trouble.

Just weeks earlier, the “I Wonder” crooner was barred from entering the United Kingdom after being announced as the headliner for all three nights of Wireless Festival in July.

That booking quickly unraveled. Several major sponsors pulled out after backlash over West’s involvement, and the entire festival was later canceled.

The collapse of that event was another sign of how deeply his reputation has been damaged in recent years.

West has also drawn widespread outrage in recent years over his antisemitic comments and stunts.

One of the biggest controversies came in 2025 when he used a Super Bowl ad to direct viewers to his Yeezy website, which featured swastika-emblazoned T-shirts.

The stunt intensified criticism and reignited anger over his previous rhetoric. However, West issued an apology for his antisemitic comments earlier this year through an ad in The Wall Street Journal.

Mental Health Expert Backs Kanye West’s Bipolar Disorder Claims

A few days ago, West received some support from a medical expert after blaming his past antisemitic comments on bipolar disorder and an undiagnosed brain injury.

In his January apology, the music icon said he “lost touch with reality” during manic episodes and admitted his actions were “reckless” and deeply harmful.

As The Blast reported, mental health expert Professor David Curtis of University College London revealed that West’s explanation was medically plausible, saying, “People with severe bipolar disorder can act in ways completely out of character.”

Curtis explained that manic episodes could lead to delusions, impulsivity, and extreme behavior, which may align with some of West’s public outbursts. However, support for the medical explanation did not erase criticism.

Bipolar UK stressed that mental illness could affect judgment but should not be used to excuse hate speech, while the Anti-Defamation League said West’s apology was “long overdue” and that accountability mattered most.
