Viewers have followed Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ love story for years, from soap opera starlets to hosting their own talk show together. Looking back, Ripa recently admitted to one regret she had about tying the knot. Moreover, she wanted to give advice to another couple who are set to tie the knot.

Ripa and Consuelos famously met while working on the soap opera, All My Children. In addition to playing love interests on the soap, they fell in love in real life, eloping in Las Vegas in 1996.
Since then, fans have seen the two in a number of projects together. Famously, the two became co-hosts on Live with Kelly and Mark, with Consuelos officially joining his wife in 2023. Ripa had previously joined the show in 2001.
During a recent episode of the show, Kelly gave advice to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce over their own upcoming nuptials. While she was happy about how she and Mark tied the knot, she admitted to having at least one regret.
As Ripa explained, “I’m still sorry we didn’t spring for flowers, because I always think my hands look awkward.” She continued, “Flowers are extra. And, you know… somebody didn’t want to spring for flowers,” pointing to her husband.
Kelly & Mark Felt That One Special Thing Helped To Assure A Long-Lasting Marriage
Kelly added, “The one photo that I never show is the [one] where I’m awkwardly posing with my hands because I don’t have flowers. It’s a very awkward photo.”
The couple noted that, when they eloped, everything but flowers came with a $179 wedding package, including a photographer. At the time, they felt simple weddings usually had better staying power. Ripa shared, “I’m going to save you two a fortune. Chapel of the Bells. You go in. You’re in, you’re out.”
Travis and Taylor are rumored to have set their sights on Madison Square Garden for their venue. This could cost $1 million a day to rent.
Consuelos added, “Less than a couple hundred bucks, probably even now still. I’m not sure how much it is. And those marriages stick.” His spouse shared, “Yeah. We’ve been married [for] 30 years. You can go in there in the middle of the night, no one has to know anything, you know what I mean? And then throw your afterparty at Madison Square Garden.”
