Longtime CFL receiver Chris Getzlaf has been selected for induction into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame, it was announced on Tuesday.
The Regina native was originally taken in the fifth round of the 2007 CFL Draft by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He was traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders near the midway point of his rookie year and remained with his hometown team for nearly a decade. Getzlaf signed with Edmonton as a free agent in 2016 before returning to the Roughriders late in 2017 to finish his career.
The 43-year-old caught 414 passes for 6,192 yards and 40 touchdowns over the course of 147 regular-season CFL games, earning two All-West Division selections, two Grey Cups, and one Grey Cup Most Valuable Canadian award.
The six-foot-one, 210-pound target was a collegiate standout at the University of Regina, where he was named a first-team U Sports All-Canadian in 2006.
Getzlaf will be inducted alongside rower Cameron Baerg, golfer Otto Huber, heptathlete Brianne Theisen-Eaton, builder Dr. Marlys Misfeldt, builder Ross Wilson, and the 2011-2014 Saskatoon Valkyries Football Club.
“We are thrilled to be welcoming this excellent class as the Hall of Fame celebrates 60 years in the community in 2026,” said executive director Erin Stankewich in a statement. “This class is a great example of the work the Hall of Fame does to not only celebrate excellence but elevate stories and examples of Saskatchewan’s resilience and trailblazing spirit.”
The induction ceremony will take place at the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
