Season 8 of Love Island USA is well underway, and the bombshells keep entering the villa. One of the newest bombshells is Sol Mýa, who resides in California. Although she is ready to have a great time this summer, she just went through an “unexpected” and traumatic death before she came to Fiji. So, what happened? Keep reading for all of the details.
Sol Mýa Is Ready For The Villa
When Sol Mýa entered the villa, she came during a very interesting challenge. The Love Island USA Islanders were all doing a slumber party challenge where the women had to try to find their partners. However, they were blindfolded as they attempted this, yet they had no idea two female bombshells would be entering the villa. Sol and Jennifer Terry jumped right into the challenge and attempted to leave a lasting impression, which they did. The men went crazy for Sol, and she has an immense amount of confidence.
Unfortunately, before coming to Fiji, Sol suffered an “unexpected” and traumatic death. In 2023, her father, Edward Dean, passed away. He was only 51, whereas she was 21, and Sol was living with her dad when this occurred. Moreover, Sol set up a GoFundMe for $8K to aid with all of the expenses, but only made $2,205. She expressed her grief and said:
- “my heart is broken my dad was my best friend.. and this is will be a forever healing process.”
The Love Island USA bombshell’s goal was to properly honor her father and give him the sendoff that he deserved. Before he passed, he and Sol were struggling, but it seemed like they were working through it together. Fortunately, she has been able to find a new light by joining the hit Peacock reality series and is having an incredible time.
Loving The New Bombshells
Along with Sol and Jennifer, a male bombshell joined in on Love Island USA. Caleb came along for the ride, and viewers adored the way the three of them commanded the slumber party challenge. They also appreciated Sol’s confidence:

- you can literally feel sol’s calm energy though the screen, i love her
- A couple named Sol and Sincere. Only on Love Island!
Sol also noted on the June 9th episode that her father’s passing caused her to get stress alopecia, leading to her short haircut. Yet, it works for her, so hopefully she can keep her confidence and make him proud.
