Madonna took Club Confessions to Paris this week. She teamed up with Yves Saint Laurent for an event that pulled together compelling names from both music and fashion.
YSL creative director Anthony Vaccarello was named as a collaborator. Madonna announced the event on Instagram, listing the full lineup alongside the YSL tag.
The music roster is what makes this one stand out. Stuart Price was part of the night. Price produced Madonna’s 2005 album “Confessions on a Dance Floor.” It’s widely regarded as one of her best, and one of the strongest dance records of that decade. It produced singles like “Hung Up” and “Sorry.” Those songs are still fixtures in DJ sets more than 20 years later. His name on a night called Club Confessions carries real weight for anyone who loves that record.
Charli XCX was also on the bill. Her 2024 album “Brat” became one of the most talked-about records of the year. It crossed from pop circles into broader cultural conversation in a way very few albums do. Charli and Madonna sharing a Paris event is the kind of pairing a lot of people didn’t expect to see. It makes a lot of sense, though.
Arca was also tagged. The Venezuelan-British artist and producer has collaborated with Björk, FKA twigs, and Rosalía. She’s built a reputation for music that pushes hard at the edges of electronic sound. She brought a very different energy to the lineup. French DJ Chloé Caillet rounded out the music side. She’s been one of the most sought-after DJ names in Europe and the U.S. for the past few years. For a Paris crowd, she’s a natural fit.
Debi Mazar was also part of the night. The actress has been a close friend and creative collaborator of Madonna’s since the early 1990s. She appeared in several of Madonna’s music videos in that era and stayed in her creative circle for decades after. Connor Storrie was also listed in the announcement.
The YSL connection gives the event more dimension than a typical club night. Vaccarello has led the house’s creative direction since 2016. Under his watch, Saint Laurent has leaned into music and cultural events as a real part of its identity. A Madonna-led club night in Paris fits that approach.
Madonna has a well-documented history with Paris. She’s performed there across multiple tours and has talked about her love for the city over the years. Bringing Club Confessions there makes good sense.
Four decades into one of music’s most enduring careers, she clearly hasn’t run out of interesting rooms to walk into.
