Old Trafford will say goodbye to midfielder Casemiro when Manchester United face Nottingham Forest this afternoon.

The Brazil international has spent four seasons at United after joining from Real Madrid in August 2022 and established himself as a fans’ favourite.

He will depart having played a huge role in the club’s remarkable transformation this season under interim boss Michael Carrick.

“I can say since I’ve been here and met him and worked with him, he’s been fantastic for us, for me personally, what he’s given us,” Carrick said of Casemiro.

“The clarity helps, knowing the situation, for him and for us, for him to get his head in a place where he can give absolutely everything now it’s going to come to an end.

“It is a credit to him for the way he’s gone about that. Just because it is coming to the end and the clarity with it, it is easy to go the other way as well. He’s fully invested, fully supported us as staff in the performances he’s given. He’s had some ups and downs over the year, [but] to finish so strongly and see that connection with the supporters is really good to see.”

Third-placed United have already clinched a Champions League spot while Forest are safe from relegation.

    • United are winless in their last four Premier League games against Forest (D1 L3), having won eight in a row against them before this.

    • United have only lost their final home league match in one of the last 18 seasons (W13 D4), going down 2-0 against Cardiff City in 2018-19.

    • United’s 0-0 draw with Sunderland last time out ended their 23-game scoring streak in the Premier League. They last failed to score in consecutive games in May 2025, while they’ve not recorded consecutive clean sheets since September 2024.
    • Forest are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League games (W4 D4), last having a longer run within the same top-flight season in their first 12 matches of 1995-96.
