Maria Becerra has officially announced QUIMERA, her new album dropping November 20, 2026. It’s her first full-length project in almost three years.
The Argentine pop and urban artist shared the news on her Instagram, pairing the album title and release date with a message to fans that was personal from the first line. “After almost three years, you’ll finally be able to listen to this project that we’ve been working on so hard,” she wrote, in Spanish.
QUIMERA is built around four characters. Becerra called them Shanina, Jojo, Maite, and Gladys. She described each one as a figure who helped carry her through a meaningful personal chapter. “These characters helped me heal so much along the way,” she wrote. She described the record as “a personal, emotional and deep journey, with its lights and shadows, with all the versions of my heart.”
The title carries a double meaning worth sitting with. In Spanish, “quimera” references the mythological chimera – a creature built from mismatched, unlikely parts. It also describes an impossible dream or illusion. Becerra is building this album around four separate characters, four different sides of herself. That layered meaning fits the concept almost too cleanly.
Almost three years is a long gap between albums. In Latin pop especially, competition is fierce and streaming cycles move fast. Becerra has stayed visible with singles and collaborations throughout that stretch, but a full album is a different kind of commitment. It’s a chance to say something complete.
Becerra first broke through as one of Argentina’s biggest exports in the urban and pop scene. She’s racked up hundreds of millions of streams and built a devoted fan base across Latin America, Spain, and beyond. She’s collaborated with some of the biggest names in reggaeton and Latin trap, but she’s always maintained her own distinct voice. QUIMERA sounds like she’s leaning into that voice more fully than ever.
The announcement landed with real force on social media. The Instagram post drew more than 561,000 likes, confirming that fans have been waiting for this.
Pre-saves for QUIMERA are already live on all major streaming platforms.
The framework Becerra chose is what sets this reveal apart. She’s not just rolling out a tracklist. She’s introducing a world of characters she built during a difficult stretch. These are figures shaped by real emotion. None of them are features or guest artists. They’re versions of her.
That kind of conceptual setup takes time to get right. It may explain why this album took as long as it did.
It also leaves fans with questions before November. Who is Shanina? How does Gladys differ from Jojo? Becerra hasn’t spelled any of that out yet, and the mystery feels deliberate.
For longtime listeners, this announcement lands as both a return and a step forward. Becerra built her reputation on infectious energy and real emotional depth. QUIMERA sounds like she’s ready to push that further.
November 20 is still months away. With a concept this layered, the anticipation might be part of the experience.
