Filming on Une de perdue, une de perdue, the first feature film by Mathilde Elu (who turned heads with her short film Brazil), has now entered the home straight, having kicked off on 1 June and with a wrap date set for 13 July in Brittany.
The cast is led by Laura Felpin (awarded the Comedy Molière in 2023 and particularly well-received in Unsubmissives), with support from Harpo Guit (recently at his best in Cannes’ A Man of His Time), Spanish talent Carmen Maura (whose trophies include Best Actress from Cannes for Volver, the Best Supporting Role César for The Women on the 6th Floor, Best Actress from San Sebastián for Mes chers voisins and three Best Actress Goyas), Claire Pommet, otherwise known as Pomme (nominated for the Best Acting Revelation Lumière thanks to Spirit of Ecstasy and soon to be seen in Peau d’homme), Louise Chevillotte (well-received in Lover For a Day and Synonyms, recently seen in The Arrangement) and Ana Girardot (nominated for the Best Acting Revelation Lumière via Next Time I’ll Aim for the Heart and High Society, and at her best this year in The Price To Pay). They’re further joined by Georgia Scalliet (Diary of a Fleeting Affair and the series Parlement), comedian Moguiz, Philippe Rebbot (À bicyclette, In the Move For Love, and currently touring French cinemas in Strawberry Fields Forever), Pierre Antoine Billon (Leave One Day, Mata), Michael Zindel (A Good Jewish Boy) and singer Marguerite.
Written by the director herself, the story (developed within La Fémis’ Screenplay Workshop and the Angers Workshops, and which won the Audience Award and Readers’ Jury Prize in the Angers First Film Festival) revolves around Camille, a thirty-something who’s incapable of taking things slowly in relationships and who continuously scares off the woman she meets. There are just three weeks to go until her friends’ wedding, and she refuses to rock up alone. Instead, she decides to travel across Brittany on a tandem bike, from Rennes to Crozon, determined to find love on the way, even if it means she’s more rushed and clumsier than before…
Une de perdue, une de perdue was produced by Pauline Seigland on behalf of Films Grand Huit with Bonne Pioche Cinéma and Belgian firm Hélicotronc as associate producers. Pre-purchased by Canal+, Ciné+ OCS, Disney France, France 2 Cinéma, W9 and Be tv Proximus, the feature film also enjoys support from the Gan Film Foundation, the Brittany region (where the entirety of filming is taking place) and the SOFICA companies Cinécap, Entourage and Cofimage. Photography is entrusted to Belgium’s Olivier Boonjing (who won the Magritte in his speciality for Parasol and was nominated for Zero Fucks Given), while world sales are steered by Playtime and the film’s release in French cinemas will fall to Le Pacte.
