Stephen Colbert’s late-night talk show goes off the air next week, and Megyn Kelly won’t miss it a bit. In a heated rant, she blasted him as “pathetic” for his over-the-top reaction to CBS canceling the show. She also had a shocking comparison to her reaction when she was fired by NBC. Keep reading for her shocking statements on the situation.
Stephen Colbert Pulls Out All The Stops For Final Shows
CBS announced nearly a year ago that it had canceled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The news was a shock at the time because the late-night show had been airing for over 30 years. It began in 1993 with David Letterman as host. Stephen Colbert took over in 2015 after Letterman retired.
The last episode of The Late Show airs on Thursday, May 21. Once the news of the cancellation went public, Stephen Colbert said screw the network and hosted the show the way he wanted to. At a time when the FCC is cracking down on political guests on talk shows, the CBS late show hosted several prominent politicians, including former President Obama.
Stephen Colbert has a star-studded lineup for his final week, including Jon Stewart and performances by David Byrne and Bruce Springsteen. But it was David Letterman’s appearance on the show that set off former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly.

Megyn Kelly Calls Him ‘Pathetic,’ Tells Him To ‘Grow Up’
David Letterman weighed in on the cancellation of The Late Show by calling the network “lying weasels” for claiming it was due to financial issues and not politics. Not only is Stephen Colbert highly critical of President Trump, but he was also outspoken against a merger between CBS’s parent company, Paramount Global, and Skydance Media. The merger went through a month or two after CBS announced the cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s late-night show.
The talk show host has received massive support from fans and others in the entertainment industry. But don’t count Megyn Kelly as one of Stephen Colbert’s supporters. She went off on his behavior since the cancellation was announced last year. She was particularly upset over Stephen Colbert and David Letterman’s behavior on the show earlier this week.
“Stephen Colbert’s bizarre goodbye to late-night is finally almost over. Praise Jesus, my God. It’s gone on forever, but not before he throws a hissy fit temper tantrum with the former host of the CBS program,” she said on her YouTube show.
“This is so humiliating. We know you got canceled. Be a man, jeez Louise. This is pathetic,” she ranted. She went on to compare her reaction to NBC canceling her daytime talk show in 2018 with Stephen Colbert’s reaction in 2026.
“I didn’t blubber and blubber on. I didn’t ask everybody to feel so sorry for me on days on end, nor would I have had they given me the opportunity to stay on the air. Take it like a man. Stop it. Stop this. Put your big boy pants on and exit with grace.”
“You didn’t get cancer, you got *CANCELED*. It happens. Grow up,” Megyn Kelly said. Stephen Colbert has yet to respond to her harsh words. Don’t miss his final show on Thursday, May 21.
