DHS said ICE deported Mr. Yiannopoulos, whom the agency described as an “illegal alien from the United Kingdom,” on Friday. Agents had arrested him the day before at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Kenner, Louisiana. ICE sources told Fox News he was held at the agency’s detention facility in Alexandria, Louisiana, a hub frequently used for deportation flights.
The 41-year-old British national, a former Breitbart editor who built a career as a far-right commentator, entered the U.S. legally through New York City in May 2019. An immigration judge issued him a final removal order on July 22 after he failed to appear for a scheduled hearing, DHS said.
“He chose to overstay his welcome in violation of our nation’s laws,” a DHS spokesperson said in a statement. The agency also released a photo of Mr. Yiannopoulos following his arrest.
