The Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) celebrated the upcoming launch of Air Transat’s new non-stop service between Montreal (YUL) and Agadir (AGA) recently, with the inaugural flight scheduled for June 12.
Representatives from the MNTO and Air Transat were joined by a delegation of tourism partners and hoteliers from Agadir, as well as Canadian tour operators and travel advisors at Montreal’s iconic Vieux Port event space for an evening that further solidified the strong bonds between Morocco and the Quebec travel market.
The evening was honoured by the presence of Her Excellency Souriya Otmani, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Canada, alongside representatives from Global Affairs Canada and the Forum of Federations.
Siham Fettouhi, Executive Director for North America, of the MNTO, said: “While the launch of this new flight undeniably represents a strategic milestone for Morocco, it also speaks to the deepening cultural connection between Morocco and Canada, and the values and experiences we share. With Agadir set to become more accessible than ever, we look forward to welcoming more Canadian travellers to discover the magic of the Moroccan coast.”
The new route will be the first-ever non-stop flight offered between Montreal and Agadir and the first direct connection between North America, providing Canadian travellers with direct access to one of Morocco’s premier seaside destinations. Operated on the Friday of each week, this historic route is expected to further support Agadir’s rise as a major tourism gateway.
It also speaks to Morocco’s growing popularity with Canadians and the MNTO’s strong commitment to bolstering connectivity to the destination in the Canadian market: In 2025, Morocco welcomed a record 258,304 Canadian visitors, representing a 29% increase compared to 2024. This positive momentum has continued into 2026, with 75,839 Canadian arrivals recorded by the end of April, up 8% compared to the same period last year.
The launch of the Montreal–Agadir service further strengthens Morocco’s air connectivity with Canada and complements Air Transat’s existing annual non-stop service between Montreal and Marrakech. Together, these routes provide Canadian travellers with greater flexibility when planning their Moroccan journeys, including the opportunity to arrive through one gateway and depart from another, combining destinations such as Marrakech and Agadir within a single itinerary.
Said Fettouhi: “Canada has become one of our most important emerging markets, and Agadir is a destination on the rise. In connecting Canadians with new, rich sides of Morocco alongside the souks of Marrakech, we hope to further capture the imaginations of travellers and confirm our long-term commitment to our in-market partners.”
