Mykhailo Mudryk expressed his delight at reuniting with Roberto De Zerbi after Tottenham sealed a loan deal for the Chelsea winger.
The Ukrainian has not played competitive football since November 2024, having resolved a doping case with the Football Association last month.
Mudryk joined Chelsea in 2023 having made his breakthrough at Shakhtar Donetsk in 2021-22 under De Zerbi.
And, after completing a deal that features a £75m option to make the transfer permanent, Mudryk is relishing the opportunity to play for the Italian again.
“It’s a great feeling. I can’t wait to start training and playing for the club, and I’m so excited to be reunited with Roberto De Zerbi,” Mudryk told Tottenham’s official website.
“I’m a player who brings speed and creativity, and I want to help in both the offensive and defensive areas. I want to make the fans excited.
“I can see it’s a strong squad here with good players, and I’m looking forward to sharing a pitch and special moments with them.”
Tottenham turned to Mudryk after a deal for Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye broke down. Ndiaye has since signed for Manchester City.
But De Zerbi has hope he can get the best out of a player he believes to be a game-changer.
“Having worked with Misha earlier in his career, I know exactly what he can bring to our team,” De Zerbi said.
“He has the quality to change a game with his speed and ability in one-vs-one situations, and is an exciting, attacking talent.
“I will demand a lot from Misha and it is our job to help him find the best version of himself. If we do that then he can become a very important player for us. I am very happy he chose to come here, and I cannot wait to work with him again.”
Tottenham are also set to sign defender Tosin Adarabioyo from Chelsea on a permanent deal, having allowed Kevin Danso to join Sunderland on loan with an obligation to buy that is contingent on the Black Cats staying in the Premier League.
Despite spending over £300m in the transfer window, Tottenham suffered defeat in each of their opening two Premier League games. They sit joint-bottom of the table at this very early stage of the season. Spurs visit Nottingham Forest on Saturday, when Mudryk could make his debut.
