Bangladesh Women produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Indonesia Women by 71 runs in their Women’s Asia Cup 2026 Group B encounter at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. After posting 129/8, Bangladesh’s bowlers dismissed Indonesia for just 58 in 17.3 overs, with Nahida Akter starring with a three-wicket haul to earn Player of the Match honours.

    Bangladesh post competitive total

Indonesia Women won the toss and opted to bowl first, hoping to make early inroads with the ball. Bangladesh, however, gradually built their innings despite losing wickets at regular intervals. Dilara Akter provided stability at the top with a patient 27 off 31 balls, while Sobhana Mostary anchored the innings with a composed 40 off 42. Mostary struck two fours and a six during her stay at the crease and ensured Bangladesh had a platform to accelerate later in the innings.

The momentum shifted decisively when Shorna Akter walked in and launched an aggressive counterattack. She smashed 31 from just 18 deliveries, hitting three fours and a six. Her brisk innings helped Bangladesh add valuable runs during the latter stages and push their total to 129/8 after 20 overs. Indonesia’s bowlers had their moments, with Ni Kadek Ariani leading the attack with three wickets for 28 runs from four overs. Ni Luh Dewi also impressed with two wickets, while Ni Made Putri Suwandewi and Sofia Velic claimed one wicket apiece.

Chasing 130, Indonesia struggled to build any meaningful partnership from the outset. Maria Corazon top-scored with 12 off 13 balls, while Rahmawati Pangestuti and Luh Dewi contributed nine runs apiece. Bangladesh’s bowlers maintained relentless pressure as wickets continued to fall. Indonesia’s middle and lower order failed to find a way through the disciplined attack, with Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini managing only two runs from 15 balls.

Marufa Akter set the tone with an excellent spell of 3-0-6-2, while Sanjida Akter Meghla picked up one wicket for 11 runs. Fahima Khatun also made an impact with 1/9 from her three overs. The standout performer was left-arm spinner Nahida, who dismantled Indonesia’s batting lineup with three wickets for just 15 runs in her four overs. Her economical spell prevented Indonesia from building any momentum and played a major role in the emphatic victory. Shorna Akter also bowled a highly economical two-over spell, conceding only three runs, further tightening the pressure on the Indonesian batters. Indonesia were eventually bowled out for 58 in 17.3 overs, leaving Bangladesh with a convincing 71-run victory in their Group B campaign.
