Another season of NCIS is winding down. The show, which premiered in 2003, is now on its 23rd season. The long-running CBS procedural drama is a hit among viewers. But the only way to keep the show fresh is by making changes. One change rocked this season when Special Agent Timothy McGee discovered his long-lost son. The storyline was controversial for fans, but continues through the season finale. Keep reading to find out what we know so far about the shocking finale.

NCIS Star Teases Big Changes & ‘Surprises’ To Come

This week’s episode of NCIS hinted at the return of a beloved character. The show teased Gibbs’ (Mark Harmon) return as he sought justice for Director Vance’s (Rocky Carroll) murder earlier this season. The Director was shot by a corrupt agent. Special Agent Parker (Gary Cole) hinted that Gibbs pulled the trigger when the agent was killed by a sniper during a transfer after accepting a plea deal. While viewers didn’t get to see the beloved character, it was widely teased that he was responsible for the justice served for Vance.

But another storyline is set to take center stage during the Season 23 finale. Special Agent Timothy McGee discovered he had an 18-year-old son from a former girlfriend. The news was a shock to him and viewers. The father-son relationship between the two hasn’t been easy and according to one star, it’s going to change drastically in the season finale.

Diona Reasonover, who plays forensic scientist Kasie Hines on the series, hinted to Us Weekly about the drama involving McGee in the season finale. “One of our leaders, Mr. Timothy McGee, is in for a big surprise at the end of the season,” the star said.

She added that McGee will have “his relationship and heart tested” in an unexpected way. She didn’t say more than that, but could she have been talking about McGee’s relationship with his newfound son?

Season 23 Finale Ending On A Cliffhanger?

The NCIS unit is still looking for a leader to replace Director Vance. Katrina Law, who plays Special Agent Jessica Knight, teased in April during CBS Fest who might get the role. She said at the time that Vance’s replacement was “up in the air” but hinted that it was someone within the unit, sparking speculation that McGee gets promoted to Director.

The Season 23 finale airs on Tuesday, May 12. However, viewers may have to wait until next season for a conclusion. CBS has already renewed NCIS for Season 24.

“You’re gonna have to wait a little bit longer,” Diona Reasonover previously told Us Weekly about Vance’s replacement. However, she also promised a lot of “surprising endings” to Season 23. Tell us in the comments what you think will happen.
