Fargo and Alien: Earth creator Noah Hawley is set to produce and direct a revamp of Terrified, originally titled Aterrados, the Argentinian hyperlink supernatural horror originally by Demián Rugna, which focused on various paranormal occurrences in a Buenos Aires neighbourhood, released in 2017.
With an 83% score on Rotten Tomatoes, Rugna’s film is characterised as a chilling and unique horror tale, premiering on the popular horror site Shudder after its initial Mòrbido Fest debut in 2017. Terrified’s original cast includes Maximiliano Ghione, Norberto Gonzalo, Elvira Onetto and Julieta Vallina.
Rugna is also credited for the anthology horror film Satanic Hispanics, which he co-wrote and co-directed with The Blair Witch Project creator Eduardo Sánchez, in addition to Mike Mendez, Gigi Saul Guerrero and Alejandro Brugués. He also wrote and directed When Evil Lurks, starring Ezequiel Rodríguez, which also had a festival debut in Toronto.
Emmy-award-winning creator Hawley has reportedly replaced acclaimed and adored Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro in leading the remake. He is also credited and acclaimed for the surrealist superhero thriller series Legion, which debuted in 2017 under Marvel Television and FX Productions. The show takes place in an alternate timeline to 20th Century Fox’s X-Men series and stars Dan Stevens, Rachel Keller and Aubrey Plaza.
