Oprah Winfrey is known as an actress, talk show host, advocate, and so much more. Yet, how many of her hardcore fans know that she was a singer at one point in her career? Now, the mogul is opening up about her musical failure and what went wrong. Keep reading for all of the details that she spilled.
Oprah Was Once In Her Musical Era
There is nothing that Oprah Winfrey can’t do. She has had her own hit talk show where she influenced millions of viewers. Additionally, she started her own network as well as a magazine. Then, she was a smash hit in The Color Purple alongside Whoopi Goldberg, which garnered her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. So, Oprah is a force to be reckoned with. However, maybe singing is not a route she should have followed given her past endeavors. She opened up about it on the “Baby, This is Keke Palmer” podcast.
The subject of Oprah’s theme song from her talk show came up, and Keke noted how Oprah sang it for one season. This may be common knowledge, while some may have forgotten this tidbit. For fun, Keke started to sing the song, but Oprah shut her down. She never wanted to hear it again, but shared the origin of it. It came when the 72-year-old was struggling to decide if she wanted to keep her show going. Then, she had an epiphany that she had to sing an old spiritual song, hers entitled “Run On.” There was just one problem, as Oprah noted:
“And then we realised, I can’t sing.”
Oprah Winfrey did try singing lessons and did all that she could, but it was a failure:
“It was bad. You know it was bad.”
Of course, having fun and trying new things is what Oprah is all about. Even though it did not work as she had planned, she went for it, and that is all that matters.
Fans Had A Good Chuckle
After Keke Palmer sang the Oprah Winfrey theme song, fans immediately searched for it. Many had forgotten but had a field day hearing it all over again. There were a lot of comments about the song and even the music video that were quite comical and made sense why Oprah did not pursue singing:

- My lord this is 90s nostalgia. Holy cow. Everything about this makes me feel like a 12 year old in my family living room. More innocent times.

- I remember it kept getting shorter and shorter as the season went on. I think at one time she said she was embarrassed she did it. Oh well, she’s Oprah, she can do whatever she wants.
