Welcome to Plathville fans may or may not know that Kim and Barry Plath had a baby who passed away. It was very hard to process and seemingly still is for the family. During the Tuesday, May 26th episode, the death came up, but Kim was not happy that her daughter, Lydia, had spoken about it. So, what did Lydia say that hurt her mother so badly? Keep reading for more details.
Plathville: Lydia Is Still Heartbroken
Lydia Plath has found love with Zac Wyse, and that should be her focus on Welcome to Plathville. Yet, there is always external drama that she is dealing with. Her brother, Ethan Plath, impulsively moved to be with an ex-girlfriend, and she has the rest of her family to contend with. In the latest episode of the hit TLC series, Ethan was moving back to Wisconsin, and the family was there to help. Lydia had gone to be of assistance and then head back home with Kim. However, Kim had seen, via the Internet, Lydia opening up about the grief from losing her brother.
In 2008, Joshua was 17-months-old. Kim was using her car for farming and had no idea that the toddler was around. She then accidentally hit him, and he passed away. According to Lydia, the family was not allowed to talk about what had happened, suppressing their feelings:
“It was a very tragic accident and because it affected her so much, we couldn’t talk about it. And so like the deepest, hardest thing that happened in our childhood, we couldn’t talk about around her. So we just didn’t talk about it.”
Clearly, and understandably, Kim held a lot of guilt, and that is completely understandable. However, if the children were silenced from feeling anything and speaking out, how could they handle the pain? Ultimately, Kim was blindsided by Lydia speaking up, and it seemingly gave her more shame than she had before. The Welcome to Plathville duo were further harmed as Kim felt betrayed by Lydia in the sense that she wished she had spoken to her.
Can They Mend Fences?
It seems that all Kim Plath wanted was for Lydia to speak to her and not go to the Internet. The Welcome to Plathville star also did The Jinger and Jeremy Podcast, so she spoke on a very public forum. She did not hold back her feelings about what happened and how she felt losing her brother. Kim Plath has spoken in the past and was very candid about her feelings:
“I woke up every morning and functioned. But just barely. I wanted to die. My husband was dealing with losing his son and his wife. I was gone. Checked out. Unavailable for conversations or reality.”
