The boundaries of modern cricket continue to shrink, and on May 31, 2026, fans witnessed another historic chapter at the Singapore National Cricket Ground. In the opening match of Group A at the Asian Games Qualifier, Nepal clashed with China in a game that will be remembered for decades. Nepal’s explosive opening batter, Kushal Bhurtel, put on a masterclass of absolute destruction, joining one of the rarest, most exclusive clubs in international sport.

Facing China’s left-arm spinner Chen Zhuo Yue in the ninth over, Bhurtel unleashed a fierce aerial assault, launching six consecutive deliveries over the boundary rope. His blistering onslaught propelled him to a magnificent 129 runs off just 43 balls. Behind his heroic effort, Nepal posted a monumental 313/2 in their 20 overs, cruising to a massive 221-run victory.

Bhurtel’s jaw-dropping feat marks only the sixth time a cricketer has accomplished this maximum-maximum over in Men’s T20 Internationals (T20Is). Even more remarkably, he is the second player from Nepal to do so, making his nation the only country in cricket history to boast two separate batters in this elite brotherhood.

List of players to hit 6 sixes in an over in T20Is

Hitting every ball of an over for six requires a perfect storm of technical precision, raw power, and immense mental composure. Over the years, only six individuals have managed to conquer this ultimate batting mountain in T20Is.

Yuvraj Singh vs England (September 2007)

The blueprint for T20I dominance was drawn by India’s Yuvraj Singh during the inaugural 2007 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Durban, South Africa. Following a heated verbal altercation with England‘s Andrew Flintoff in the previous over, a fired-up Yuvraj took his frustrations out on a young Stuart Broad.

Yuvraj dispersed the ball to every corner of Kingsmead: deep mid-wicket, backward square leg, wide long-off, deep point, square leg, and wide long-on. This historic carnage led to a 12-ball half-century, a world record at the time, propelling India to victory and setting the tone for their ultimate World Cup triumph.

Kieron Pollard vs Sri Lanka (March 2021)

Fourteen years passed before West Indies powerhouse Kieron Pollard replicated the feat in Antigua. What made this occasion purely cinematic was the sheer unpredictability of T20 cricket. Sri Lankan spinner Akila Dananjaya had just taken a magical hat-trick in his previous over, dismissing Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle, and Nicholas Pooran.

When Dananjaya returned for his next over, Pollard ruthlessly dismantled him. Hitting five sixes, Pollard noticed the bowler switching to around-the-wicket out of desperation, kept his composure, and cleared the rope a sixth time. The West Indies chased down 132 easily, and Dananjaya experienced the ultimate sport journey from hero to villain in the span of 12 balls.

Dipendra Singh Airee vs Qatar (April 2024)

Before Bhurtel’s 2026 fireworks, Dipendra Singh Airee etched his name as Nepal’s first maximum-over king during the ACC Men’s Premier Cup in Al Amerat, Oman. Entering the final over against Qatar‘s medium-pacer Kamran Khan, Nepal sat at 174/7 with Airee on a modest 28.

Six balls later, Airee walked off unbeaten on 64 from 21 deliveries, lifting Nepal to 210. Airee is no stranger to historic hitting; just months prior at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, he shattered Yuvraj’s long-standing record by smoking the fastest-ever T20I fifty off just 9 balls against Mongolia.

Darius Visser vs Vanuatu (August 2024)

Samoa’s Darius Visser didn’t just join the club; he rewrote the record books by generating the most expensive over in T20I history. Playing against Vanuatu in Apia during the T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Qualifier, Visser took advantage of Nalin Nipiko‘s costly over.

Aided by three loose no-balls, Visser blasted six sixes to extract an unbelievable 39 runs from a single over. In just his third international outing, Visser scored 132 out of Samoa’s 174 runs. His contribution accounted for 75.86% of his team’s entire total, eclipsing the previous world record held by Australia‘s Aaron Finch.

Manan Bashir vs Gibraltar (July 2025)

Bulgaria’s Manan Bashir brought European cricket into the global spotlight during the Bulgaria Tri-Nation T20I Series in Sofia. The destructive right-hander targeted Gibraltar’s bowling attack to become the fifth man to achieve the elusive milestone.

Bashir’s feat was far from a stroke of luck. Since his international debut, he has maintained an astronomical strike rate of 267.34. With a documented history of hitting over 170 sixes across various competitive cricket formats, Bashir proved that associate nations hold world-class power hitting talent.

The latest entry into this legendary hall of fame belongs to Bhurtel. His ruthless takedown of Yue in Singapore highlighted Nepal’s skyrocketing evolution in world cricket.

By mirroring his compatriot Airee, Bhurtel ensured that Nepal stands entirely alone as the premier powerhouse of maximum hitting, proving that their fearless, aggressive brand of cricket is here to reshape the international game.
