“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Porsha Williams began dating Patrice “Sway” McKinney in 2025. Since then, the “RHOA” fan-favorite has spoken openly about their relationship, and McKinney has also been featured on the hit Bravo show. Now, Williams is opening up about how she defines her sexual orientation.
Porsha Williams Isn’t Labeling Her Sexuality
Williams appeared on “The Breakfast Club” on April 14 to promote “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” During the conversation, Charlamagne tha God asked her if she cares about labels amid going public with her girlfriend.
She responded by saying that when she first announced that she was dating a man and a woman, everyone questioned, “Are you a lesbian, are you bisexual and I was just like ‘I don’t have a label. I’m just Porsha-Sexual. I’m just exploring. Now I’m Sway-Sexual.”
From there, Williams went on to say that she’s “very free and exploring parts of myself.” However, she also proclaimed, “At this moment, I don’t mind if you want to call me a lesbian. I don’t mind if, you know, bisexual is a phrase, but I don’t know what comes with that. I’m kind of new with all that.”
She added, “But I’m not offended by it at all,” and that she “doesn’t feel pressure to label myself.”
The ‘RHOA’ Star Says She’s Taking Her Time With McKinney
Later in the clip from the full “Breakfast Club” interview, cohost Lauren Larosa asked Williams how dating a woman differed from dating a man. After giving the question some thought, the “RHOA” legend said, “What I find with Sway is that I feel very comforted. I feel very seen, very patient.”
After that, she stated that they communicate very well with each other before noting, “Now that may also be because we’re going very slow.” Williams then compared this to her past relationships, noting that after three months, she would typically expect to have a ring, citing her “three-month rule.”
The 44-year-old continued, “In this case, I am definitely taking my time with her, and it’s just very soft. And of course, I have always been attracted to women, so I get both of those. I get the feminine side of her, and I enjoy the masculine side of her.”
When asked if they are considering marriage, Williams reiterated, “Very slow.” Still, she admitted she’s sometimes tempted to speed things along with Sway because of “feeling this kind of love,” before saying she’s taking it “at a healthier pace.”
Porsha Williams Slammed Her Relationship Being Called A ‘Phase’
Following Williams ‘ response to the marriage question, Charlamagne tha God asked, “How do you know this ain’t a phase, though? Your diet may change.” She said, “Well, my diet changed on men too, and then I divorced them when they were not good for me as well.”
In defense of her relationship with McKinney, she said, “Your diet could change with anything, and her’s could change from me too. You never know the future. It’s so funny. People be under my posts like, ‘We’ll see how long this lasts,’ we’ll see how long anybody’s relationships last.”
Williams added, “I don’t know why it seems like I’m the first person to be gay now. I’m not the first. It’s 2026.”
The ‘Housewives’ Star Revealed She Was Dating Two People In October
Fans who are tuned in to season 17 of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” know that she introduced a man in the premiere episode before bringing McKinney to an event in the second. Previously, PEOPLE reported that Williams opened up about dating two people at CultureCon in October 2025.
She said while on a panel that she was “talking to” two people before stating, “And he is nice and she is nice.” Williams then discussed her conversations with her therapist. Notably, this came on the heels of her divorce from Simon Guobadia.
According to her, “What I talked about with my therapist the other day was, I’m having a hard time opening up because they’re not narcissists. And guess what narcissists do? They love bomb you, they do everything, they look perfect, they mirror you. And these people are not.”
Porsha Denied Claims She Hired Her Date For The ‘RHOA’ Premiere
The “RHOA” season 17 premiere mostly centered around a dinner party Williams hosted at her home. Since it was intended to be a couple’s night, she brought her date, Michael “Mike” Anthony. Following the episode, The Bravo Shaderoom shared a video of him claiming he was hired to be on the show as Williams’ love interest.
Per RealityBlurb, Williams later responded in the comments, writing, “Absolutely false story. This is a SKIT filmed after RHOA season.”
