Rosie O’Donnell is set to speak with a number of guests during her time guest-hosting on Jimmy Kimmel Live. However, Kathy Griffin recently spoke out about not being included on the list. Since then, O’Donnell herself has responded to the story.
Rosie O’Donnell Is Filling In For Jimmy Kimmel While He’s On Summer Break
O’Donnell is a comedian, actress, and media personality with a career spanning decades. She briefly served as a co-host on The View from 2006 to 2007, later returning for five months between 2014 and 2015.
Early last year, O’Donnell relocated to Ireland. However, she recently announced her return to U.S. television with a guest stint filling in for Jimmy Kimmel during his summer break.
Recently, comedian Kathy Griffin shared that she was upset that she was invited as O’Donnell’s guest during her time on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Taking to YouTube, she published a video titled, “If Rosie Would’ve Called, I Would’ve Jumped.”
At the time, Griffin expressed, “My feelings were really hurt that I was not invited to go on Rosie’s week of the Jimmy Kimmel show. I love Jimmy so much. He’s one of my oldest friends… I love Rosie. She’s one of my oldest friends.”
Griffin claimed that she’d informed O’Donnell that she’d “love to be a guest” during a recent flight together. She also felt it would have been a good idea to discuss politics on the show together, given their own political histories concerning President Donald Trump.
O’Donnell Responded To The Story In A Comment On Instagram
Griffin continued, “She didn’t say anything about me being a guest. And I thought, ‘Well, she’s the guest host. She may have no say in it.” However, she admitted, “And, to this day, I don’t know if she has any say in it. As far as I know, she could or could not. I really… How would I know, right?”
Despite this, Griffin still showed support for O’Donnell during her hosting gig. She shared, “She’s doing a great job and will continue to. If I have one call to action, it’s that you guys watch the show and support her. I just think it’s a tricky situation because I’m having all kinds of the feels. I will watch every night and cheer her on, of course.”
Since then, O’Donnell responded to the story on social media. Taking to Griffin’s Instagram share of the post, she wrote, “Kathy – shoulda called me honey – I didn’t choose the guests…,” suggesting that it was out of her hands.
Meanwhile, O’Donnell will still speak with a number of guests during her time on the show. As noted by Entertainment Weekly, the guest list included Ana Gasteyer, Jean Smart, Charlie Day, Janelle James, Shawn Hatosy, Megan Mullally, and Nick Offerman, among others.
