South African Airways (SAA) and Turkish Airline have announced that the codeshare deal the carriers signed in December 2025 is now in effect. The airlines said that the strategic partnership will enhance connectivity between Africa, Türkiye, and key global destinations, offering passengers greater choice and convenience.

    Highlights of the agreement include:

    * Turkish Airlines will place its TK flight code on SAA-operated services between Johannesburg and Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Windhoek, Harare, Victoria Falls, and Mauritius.

    * South African Airways will place its SA flight code on Turkish Airlines-operated services between Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Istanbul, Paris, London, and Frankfurt.

As a result of the agreement, customers will benefit from seamless travel options via the Johannesburg and Istanbul hubs, improved connectivity across both airlines’ networks, and enhanced access to major destinations worldwide.

Both airlines will continue to explore opportunities for deeper cooperation, including strategic route development and expanded network integration.

Matshela Seshibe, Acting Group CEO of South African Airways, said: “This agreement marks an important milestone in strengthening SAA’s global connectivity and provides our customers with enhanced travel options across key markets.”

Ahmet Olmustur, CEO of Turkish Airlines, noted: “We are glad to bring together our complementary networks, thus offering our guests more convenient travel options.”
