Sadie Sink has dropped a surprising revelation about the “Spider-Man” franchise ahead of the release of its latest installment.
The actress will star alongside lead actor Tom Holland in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” and is also expected to reprise her role in “Avengers: Secret Wars.”
During a recent sit-down with other stars from the upcoming movie, Sink revealed that Holland was the first Spider-Man she ever watched on screen, a statement that has since drawn shock from many fans and longtime followers of the franchise.
Sadie Sink was put on the spot during a recent sit-down with her co-stars from the upcoming “Spider-Man” film, which will mark her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
During the interview, the “Stranger Things” star was asked to share her favorite moment of Tom Holland as Spider-Man.
Before answering the question directly, Sink revealed that Holland was actually the first Spider-Man she had ever watched on screen.
Her remark left Holland visibly surprised. “Oh, really?” he responded, prompting Sink to confirm, “Yes, you are.”
Still in disbelief, Holland replied, “No way,” before jokingly adding, “Not the best one then,” in reference to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, who played the role before the franchise became part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Spider-Man Fans Weigh In On The Actress’s Confession
Sink’s comments generated mixed reactions from Spider-Man fans online, with some finding her remarks unexpected while others saw them as entirely predictable.
“Not really surprising that he was the first Spider-Man she’s seen, considering her age,” one person wrote.
One commenter suggested that Sink’s response likely stemmed from her not being particularly into Spider-Man while growing up, and another fan agreed.
“I think that’s most likely, yes. I’ve known people around my age whose first Spider-Man was also Holland because they got into Marvel thanks to the MCU,” the user said.
“Idk I’m younger than her, and my dad was putting me on the Tobey movies before I could fully form sentences,” another person commented. “I mean, it’s not unbelievable by any means, but it is a bit surprising.”
Sadie Sink Praises Tom Holland’s Early Peter Parker Days
Sink went on to explain why Holland’s portrayal of Spider-Man resonated so strongly with her growing up.
“I think I’ll never forget watching the first Tom ‘Spider-Man’ movie,” she said. “You were the Spider-Man of my generation, and you just felt so representative of that.”
Reflecting on Holland’s early days as Peter Parker, Sink added, “So I like your early Peter Parker days for sure.”
Holland responded by revealing that the first film in his “Spider-Man” trilogy remains especially meaningful to him.
“I think for me too that movie has a really special place in my heart,” he said. “Of that trilogy, it’s probably my favorite because I look back on it and just see this young kid. You have no idea what’s coming. I love that movie too. It’s my favorite.”
Sink Says Holland Carries Spider-Man With Grace

Not wanting to let the original question slide, the interviewer brought it up once again.
In response, Sink avoided pointing to a specific moment or quote from Holland’s time as Spider-Man. Instead, she praised the way he has embraced the responsibility that comes with portraying one of the world’s most beloved superheroes.
“My favorite thing about Tom’s Spider-Man is how Tom handles Spider-Man outside of Spider-Man,” the actress said.
Sink noted that millions of fans, particularly children, look up to Peter Parker and Spider-Man, and she commended Holland for carrying that responsibility with “such grace.”
“He understands that when you’re in front of these kids, you are Spider-Man,” she added. “I just love seeing how you carry Spider-Man through your life in real life.”
Fans Still Think Sadie Sink Could Play Jean Grey

Sink was announced as part of the cast in March 2025, several months before filming on the installment got underway.
As for who she will be playing, the leading theory among fans is that she will be introduced as the “X-Men” character Jean Grey.
However, that speculation has yet to be confirmed by the studio, and the film’s trailer has offered few clues about her role.
Sink is also expected to return in “Avengers: Secret Wars,” reprising her still-undisclosed role when the film arrives in theaters on December 17, 2027.
