A new film from Sean Baker has been confirmed as the first release from a newly launched Warner Bros. speciality label, marking a significant next step for both the director and the studio.
Titled Ti Amo!, the project will serve as Baker’s follow-up to his Oscar-winning breakout Anora and is set to be distributed by Warner Bros.’ new indie-focused division, Clockwork. The label, led by former NEON executive Christian Parkes, was officially unveiled at CinemaCon, signalling the studio’s renewed push into the independent film space.
Baker is set to take on multiple roles for the project, writing, directing, editing and producing alongside long-time collaborators. The filmmaker has previously described the film as a love letter to Italian sex comedies of the 1960s and 1970s, suggesting a tonal shift that still aligns with his interest in intimate, character-driven storytelling.
While plot details remain largely under wraps, the film is expected to shoot in Italy, with reports indicating a 2027 theatrical release. It has also been reported that Italian actress Vera Gemma is attached, though further casting details have yet to be confirmed.
The announcement comes at a pivotal moment in Baker’s career. Following the critical and awards success of Anora, which secured major honours including Best Picture at the Oscars, anticipation is high for his next project.
For Warner Bros., Ti Amo! represents the launch of a new strategy aimed at supporting filmmaker-driven projects under the Clockwork banner. The label is designed to focus on more specialised, auteur-led films, positioning itself as a distinct arm within the studio’s broader slate.
With a high-profile director and a clearly defined creative direction, Ti Amo! is already shaping up to be one of the more intriguing projects on the horizon, bridging studio backing with independent sensibilities.
