Red Sox infielder Anthony Seigler connected on a middle-middle fastball from Gerrit Cole yesterday, sending it over the Green Monster for his first career home run. Seigler, 27, has only made 33 plate appearances this year but got his first blast against the team that drafted him. The Yankees selected Seigler in the first round in 2018, and he played in their minor league system through 2024.
1. White Sox win 10 straight series at home
The White Sox followed Friday’s 22-1 drubbing of the Royals with a 2-1 walk-off victory on Saturday. Jacob Gonzalez had the signature moment, grounding a single to left off John Schreiber and scoring Colson Montgomery from third base for the winning run. By securing the series win against Kansas City, the White Sox set a franchise record with ten consecutive home series wins. That impressive feat continues a surprisingly strong season for the South Siders, who currently lead the AL Central with a 43-38 record after losing 102 games last year.
2. Goodman’s three-homer game
The Rockies’ 8-5 victory over the Twins yesterday was highlighted by Hunter Goodman‘s three-homer performance. Goodman connected on solo shots in the first and third innings before hitting a three-run shot in the top of the seventh. It was the first three-homer performance of Goodman’s career and got him to 25 homers on the season, which leads all big league catchers. Goodman is just the fourth catcher in major league history to hit 25 home runs before the All-Star break and the first NL catcher since Johnny Bench in 1970 (28 HR).
3. Reynolds continues on-base streak
Despite the Pirates losing 9-7 to the Reds yesterday, outfielder Bryan Reynolds was a solid contributor, going 1-4 with a walk. Reynolds has now reached base in 32 consecutive games. As noted by Jason Mackey of MLB.com, that’s the longest active on-base streak in the Majors and the second longest entirely in 2026 behind Nick Kurtz‘s 48-game streak for the Athletics. Reynolds also has a 17-game hit streak, which ties for the second-longest in his career. Altogether, Reynolds’ 145 wRC+ leads the Pirates and accounts for a lot of the team’s offensive resurgence this year.
