The View host Alyssa Farah Griffin welcomed her first child with her husband, Justin Griffin, in February. She returned to the show this week after two months of maternity leave. The talk show host opened up about the traumatic birth of her son after years of IVF. Keep reading for all the details.
Alyssa Farah Griffin Shares How IVF Journey Led To Son’s Name
After marrying Justin Griffin in 2021, Alyssa Farah Griffin thought children would be the next step. However, she struggled to conceive naturally. She was later diagnosed with endometriosis, which often causes difficulty getting pregnant. She went public with her fertility issues in 2024, revealing that she had started IVF.
After five rounds, she finally got pregnant and announced it live on The View in October 2025. She stayed on the show until her due date was nearly here. Her maternity leave started a few days early after she unexpectedly went into labor. Her son, Justin Griffin Jr., was born in February. Alyssa Farah Griffin returned to the ABC talk show on Monday, April 13, after two months.
She opened up about her decision to return to the show on the Behind the Table podcast. Alyssa Farah Griffin made it clear that it was her decision to return so early and the show would have gladly let her stay on maternity leave as long as she wanted. However, she felt ready to return. She noted that it was an easy decision because the show films early in the morning and she can spend the rest of her day with her newborn.
Alyssa Farah Griffin revealed that she didn’t initially plan to name her son after her husband. However, she felt compelled to during a tough labor. “In that moment where they handed him to me, I looked at my husband, and everything kind of flashed before my eyes. The two years of IVF, the money, the toll on my body, the hormones, the screaming at my husband,” she said.

She added, “Then what was like a really scary final stretch of labor, him there, I was like, ‘This is Justin. This is somebody who I can only hope is going to be a kind, decent, humble, amazing man like my husband.’ And it just fits.”
The View Host Opens Up About ‘Traumatic’ Labor
Alyssa Farah Griffin didn’t have an easy time conceiving her son. The labor wasn’t easy, either. She shared a few details of the “traumatic” birth of her son. While she went into labor early, she had to be induced at the hospital. The View host shared that being induced often makes women sick, vomiting for hours while they wait for the baby’s arrival.
After the birth, her placenta got stuck and she began to hemorrhage. Luckily, the doctors were able to handle it. However, the birth of her first child definitely didn’t go the way she planned. But it rarely does.
Despite the difficult birth, Alyssa Farah Griffin and her husband are over the moon to have a son. Did you experience a traumatic birth? Tell us about it in the comments.
