The View moderator, Whoopi Goldberg, says how she feels, but recently, she caught herself ahead of an FCC slip. These outspoken ladies are being very closely monitored, but what was it that Whoopi held back? Keep reading for more details on how the Oscar winner was able to censor herself.
Whoopi Goldberg Challenges Authority
At seventy years old, Whoopi Goldberg is not afraid to say how she feels and to challenge authority. She has had a successful career, being one of 28 people to become an EGOT. This means she has won a Grammy, Emmy, Oscar, and Tony, which is a tremendous honor. For the last two decades, she has been the moderator of the female-centered talk show The View. As a comedian and actress, she often says how she feels, but with the FCC closely monitoring the women, she has to be very careful.
On the Monday, May 18th episode, the panel discussed President Donald Trump sharing AI images. Whoopi added that she believed the country was skeptical about what the president’s priorities were, and that almost caused her to curse:
“It’s not that they’re saying, ‘Oh, no more, no more,’ they’re saying, ‘Listen, I don’t have time for this. There are folks on strike, there are people trying to get to their jobs, there are people trying to take care of their sick kids. There are people in the country who are trying to make sense of how they can survive on a daily basis. They don’t have time for this bull…”
That was when The View moderator quickly caught herself and stared at the audience with a smirk. She knew what was about to go down and was proud that it hadn’t. Co-host Sunny Hostin was thrilled with Whoopi’s save and celebrated it.
Ana Navarro and Sara Haines are the two biggest offenders when it comes to cursing on air. However, they are all doing their best to censor themselves so the FCC stays somewhat at bay.
A Big Problem
The FCC has felt that The View, among other talk shows, does not offer equal time for conservatives and liberals. Allegedly, they violated this rule, and given this violation, the ladies are under a very close microscope. However, they still speak whatever is on their minds and take what the FCC has to say with a grain of salt. At the same time, they are celebrating their small wins, like not cursing on air.
