Today‘s Dylan Dreyer has often opened up about family and being a parent with her podcast series. However, during a recent episode, she opened up about a tragic moment during her time starting a family. This followed her opening up about the story on the morning news program.
Today‘s Dylan Dryer Opened Up About A Painful Loss During A Recent Episode Of The Parent Chat
Dreyer is known for her work with Today, especially as a meteorologist. However, since earlier this year, she has also become known for The Parent Chat, in which she discusses family and parenthood with various guests.
In her personal life, Dreyer married NBC News producer Brian Fichera in 2012. Announcing their separation in 2025, the two officially filed for divorce the following year. Despite their split, they continue to co-parent their three children: Calvin, Oliver, and Russell.
During a recent episode of her podcast series, the Today meteorologist opened up about a trying time in her life. As she explained, “I’ve suffered one miscarriage, and I remember, we were kind of on a group vacation.”
At the time, Dreyer was speaking with her guests, The Viall Files hosts Nick Viall and Natalie Joy. She continued, noting that she was initially hiding the fact that she was pregnant. As she explained, “So, there was just like a lot of people around, and everybody’s happy, everybody’s on vacation. And I was hiding the fact that I was pregnant. So, I’m like pretending to drink, but not really drinking.”
However, things took a tragic turn. Dreyer continued, “I remember also hiding the fact that I was, in addition to hiding the fact that I was pregnant, dealing with this miscarriage.”
Dreyere noted that soon she felt herself all alone, even when “surrounded by people.” She continued, “There’s literally no one I can talk to. I’m crying in my bed in so much pain. Because no one really tells you how painful, physically painful, it is. And I’m like, ‘Man, I wish I could share this with someone,’ and you can’t always do that.”
For their part, Viall and Joy, who share three daughters, opened up about sharing their own experiences dealing with miscarriages after Joy suffered three last year. For her part, Joy commended her fans for having “created a very safe space” for the couple during this time.
Dreyer Previously Discussed What Had Happened, & Fichera’s Support During This Time, On Today
This isn’t the first time Dreyer has discussed her miscarriage with her audience. Back in 2019, she opened up about the story on Today. At the time, Dreyer recalled, “I wake up to just massive bleeding, to the point where I’m standing in the shower and it just won’t stop.
Dreyer also recounted the support she received when she shared what happened with Fichera. She shared, “I wake Brian up, and I tell him that, and I said, ‘I think I lost the baby.’ And the first thing he said to me is, ‘You didn’t lose the baby. It’s your body doing what it needs to do. You didn’t do anything wrong.’ He was so supportive.”

As noted by TV Insider, Dreyer also took time to share words of support for others going through a similar situation. She shared, “I am blessed with the family that I have, but going through a miscarriage and not knowing what the future holds is emotional. And I just want people to know that I’m going through it, too.”
