Jenna Bush Hager is known for her work with Today. However, she recently dropped the news about another new television project away from the show. During the conversation, she also teased a little about what fans can expect from the show.
Today‘s Jenna Bush Hager Talked About Putting Her Own Family Background To Use While Working On Her New Project
Jenna is the daughter of the 43rd U.S. president, George W. Bush. However, over the years, she has established herself as a journalist, notably her work with Today, particularly co-hosting the program’s fourth hour.
Over the years, fans have seen her get involved with a number of projects, from interviewing living presidents and royals to her book imprint, Thousand Voices Books. During a recent episode of Today With Jenna & Sheinelle, Jenna also talked about working on an NBC pilot.
Speaking with Sheinelle, Jenna shared, “We have a pilot at NBC, which is really exciting. We’ve shot it. We’ll find out this week, next week, if it’s gonna get picked up. It’s either called Protection or In the Line of Fire. But Peter Krause, who was in Six Feet Under, is starring in it, [and] Hope Davis.”
During the discussion, Jenna teased that she put her own presidential background to use in the show. As she explained while describing the show, “It’s this kind of really funny, Scandal-esque [show]. It has a little bit of a White House twist, so I brought some of that. [There’s] a little romance, but [also] family drama, which I think we’re all kind of desperate for, with some mystery.”
Jenna Will Also Executive-Produce The Series Through Her Production Company
As noted by TV Insider, NBC announced that Jenna would executive-produce the new show Protection back in January. The show is being made through her production company, Thousand Voices.
The series was earlier described as being about “a U.S. Marshal [who] falls in the line of duty.” This causes “a seemingly cut-and-dry case [to turn] into a deadly conspiracy as a family of law enforcement agents becomes the target of a mysterious assassin.”
During the recent discussion, Jenna admitted that she hasn’t talked much about the project on Today, even with Sheinelle. However, her co-host noted that she was able to talk more about it now.
That said, Jenna had shared a few hints about the show over the past few months. While appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show back in March, as the outlet noted, she described the show as a tribute to Secret Service members and their sacrifices, as well as her family’s own personal connections to these personnel.
