LSU Coach Opens Up About Toosii’s Decision To Leave Football
On Wednesday, June 17, reports surfaced that Toosii had stepped away from LSU’s football program and returned to pursuing music full-time, according to head coach Lane Kiffin.
During a recent appearance on Tyrann Mathieu’s podcast, Kiffin said Toosii decided to step away from football after struggling to balance college athletics with his music career. The coach also revealed that the rapper had signed a promotional deal with a gambling company. According to Kiffin, the partnership created additional challenges due to NCAA rules and restrictions.
“He signed with one of the gambling companies where you do commercials and promotional work,” Kiffin said on the podcast, which was released Tuesday.
According to WBRZ, Toosii informed the team that he wanted to return to focusing on music after pursuing football at the collegiate level. Kiffin also pushed back against claims that Toosii’s time with the program was merely for publicity.
“I really enjoyed being around him. It wasn’t a stunt at all,” Kiffin said. “He really wanted to see if he could do it.”
