Fans have been following Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian’s story for years, including the birth of their son, Rocky. However, they recently opened up about the struggles they went through as they tried to grow their family. In addition, Kourtney herself had also discussed these trials on her family’s reality show.
Kourtney Kardashian & Travis Barker Worked Hard For Baby
Kourtney, known for appearing on the reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians and its various spin-offs, married Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker in 2022. Their son, Rocky, was born in 2023.
In addition, Kourtney has three children with her ex, Scott Disick: Mason, Penelope, and Reign. She is also a stepmother to Barker’s children, Landon and Alabama Barker, as well as Atiana De La Hoya.
Kourtney recently appeared with Travis for the premiere of his upcoming documentary, Travis Barker: Love Is Louder Than Fear, at the Tribeca Film Festival. During this project, the two reflected on the struggles they faced while trying to expand their family.
The couple revealed that, prior to Rocky’s birth, Kourtney got pregnant six months after they started dating in 2021. Reportedly, they were expecting a girl, planning to name the child Tulip. Tragically, as noted by Us Weekly, after the three-month mark, a doctor shared that the child no longer had a heartbeat.
Kourtney Opened Up About The Trials & Toll Of IVF
In the documentary, Kourtney shared, “When we lost the baby, we were devastated. We cried for days.” The pair continued trying to get pregnant, including five IVF attempts within eight months. They ultimately decided to pause things, leading them to conceive their son, Rocky.
Back in 2023, Kourtney opened up about plans to have children with Travis, noting, “I would love a baby more than anything, but I just really believe in what God has in store for us. If that’s a baby, then I believe that it will happen,” on an episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians.

The star admitted to feeling pressured to freeze her eggs. However, she knew this wasn’t a guarantee and decided to step away from IVF after it took a toll on her body. At the time, she shared, “We are just embracing that whatever’s meant to be will be,” prior to becoming pregnant with Rocky.
