Talking to IGN for a Spider-Man: Brand New Day promo, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland teased two reveals for his upcoming Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios film.
The first of the two was regarding the film’s main villain. “It’s very much a secret…” Holland says, “It’s unlike anything we’ve seen in one of these movies before.” Alluding to the fact that we have yet to see who the true villain of the film is.
With the trailers released so far, we have seen many bad guys from the universe. Included in those trailers is Sadie Sink’s hooded character, who has yet to be revealed, though many rumours suggest she is playing Jean Grey from the X-Men in the film. Yet, alternatively, there could be another villain Holland refers to in this IGN interview. Someone who Marvel deliberately wants kept from the press materials and film information.
If fans can, Holland reminds us that “No one remembers that Spider-Man is Peter Parker apart from…one person.”
Hinting at the idea that one person from the MCU will remember Spider-Man’s identity in the upcoming film. Speculation is leaning towards Hulk or Steve Rogers, but again, nothing will be confirmed until the film’s release and fans see for themselves.
In the IGN interview, Holland and Zendaya both revealed that they are massive fans of the Spider-Man Insomniac Games. Zendaya herself lets us know that she ends up frustrated with Holland, who wants to help her throughout the game but wants to be able to play by herself in the end.
Along with the two hints leading up to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it has been revealed that Peter Parker’s apartment in the film will have a replica in New York for fans to visit. Beginning June 27th, details can be found BrandNewDayPizzaParty.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day opens on July 31st.
