Daulton Varsho made Toronto Blue Jays history on Wednesday. He became the fourth Blue Jays player in franchise history to hit a walkoff grand slam. He accomplished the feat in a 5-3 Blue Jays win over the Tampa Bay Rays in the bottom of the 10th inning.

Varsho’s grand slam scored George Springer (who led off the inning at second base), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of Montreal, Quebec, and Kazuma Okamoto. Guerrero Jr. and Okamoto reached base via a walk. So, the Blue Jays scored four runs in the bottom of the 10th inning on only one hit. This was the first time this season that the Blue Jays beat the Rays. Tampa Bay beat Toronto in their first five meetings.

George Bell was the first Blue Jays player to hit a walk-off grand slam. He accomplished the feat in a 9-7 Blue Jays win over the Texas Rangers on September 4, 1988. Gregg Zaun was the second Blue Jays player to hit a walk off grand slam. He was the Blue Jays hero on September 6, 2008 in a 7-4 Blue Jays win over the Rays. Then Steve Pearce hit two walk off grand slams. He first accomplished the feat on July 27, 2017 in an 8-4 Blue Jays win over the Oakland Athletics, and then remarkably did it again three days later in an 11-10 Blue Jays win over the Los Angeles Angels on July 30, 2017.
