Barbados Tridents and Jamaica Kingsmen produced a thrilling contest in their latest Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 encounter, with the match going down to the final over. While several players made important contributions with both bat and ball, one dismissal during the Tridents’ innings stood out for its simplicity and quick reaction. Hassan Khan showed excellent awareness to complete a caught-and-bowled and send back a dangerous opposition batter.

The dismissal came during the 11th over of Barbados Tridents’ innings when Hassan delivered a full ball to Quinton de Kock. The left-handed batter appeared to be looking to work the delivery towards the leg side and pick up a single. Instead, De Kock struck the ball straight back towards the bowler. Hassan reacted quickly and got both hands to the ball before completing the caught-and-bowled.

He immediately celebrated by throwing the ball into the air as the home crowd reacted to the wicket. De Kock departed for a brisk 42 off 25 deliveries, hitting two fours and three sixes. His innings had helped Barbados maintain a strong scoring rate after he shared a 72-run partnership with Brandon King.

Barbados Tridents survive Andre Russell’s late assault

Barbados Tridents were in control for large parts of the contest after posting 206 for 3 in the first innings. King anchored the innings with a well-paced 73 off 51 balls, while Sherfane Rutherford provided the late acceleration with an unbeaten 50 from 28 deliveries. After losing De Kock, King continued to build the innings before joining forces with Rutherford. Their 93-run partnership from 53 balls ensured the Tridents finished with a total that appeared difficult to chase at Sabina Park.

Jamaica Kingsmen’s reply initially looked to be heading towards a comfortable defeat as they slipped to 60 for 5 in the ninth over. Daniel Sams and Chris Green caused significant damage with the ball, while Gudakesh Motie also contributed with the wicket of Rovman Powell.

Andre Russell then completely changed the complexion of the chase. He launched an extraordinary counterattack, smashing 68 from only 34 balls with nine sixes. Vitel Lawes provided valuable support with 32 off 20, as the pair added 69 runs for the eighth wicket. The Kingsmen entered the final over with hope of completing an unlikely chase, but Ramon Simmonds held his nerve. Russell was dismissed after attempting another big hit, while Lawes was run out trying to regain the strike. Jamaica needed six from the final delivery, but Hunain Shah failed to connect, allowing Barbados Tridents to seal a five-run victory.
