Maia Bouchier produced one of the standout moments of The Hundred Women’s 2026 with a sensational diving catch to dismiss Annerie Dercksen during Southern Brave Women‘s 24-run victory over Birmingham Phoenix Women. The brilliant fielding effort capped off another dominant performance from the unbeaten Southern Brave, who registered their fourth consecutive win to remain at the top of the standings, while Birmingham Phoenix continued to struggle at the bottom of the table.

Maia Bouchier lights up the contest with a breathtaking catch

While Southern Brave impressed with both bat and ball, it was Bouchier’s exceptional catch that stole the spotlight. The moment arrived on the 94th ball of Birmingham Phoenix’s innings when skipper Sophie Molineux was bowling to Dercksen.

Attempting to accelerate the chase, Dercksen went after a short-pitched delivery, looking to clear the boundary over long-off. However, she failed to middle the shot, sending the ball high rather than long. Stationed in the deep, Bouchier immediately charged forward before launching herself into a full-length dive to complete a remarkable low catch just inches above the turf.

The athletic effort left players and spectators stunned, with the official social media channels of The Hundred quickly sharing the replay. The catch rapidly gained attention online, with fans praising Bouchier’s anticipation, speed, and safe hands in what is already being hailed as one of the finest catches of this year’s tournament.

The dismissal also proved crucial, ending Dercksen’s stay at the crease and ensuring Birmingham Phoenix never gathered the momentum needed to threaten Southern Brave’s total.

Lizelle Lee powers Brave before Rodrigues finishes strongly

Earlier in the evening, Birmingham Phoenix opted to bowl first after winning the toss, but Southern Brave’s opening pair made them regret that decision almost immediately. Lizelle Lee and Bouchier launched an aggressive assault, stitching together a 68-run opening partnership that laid the perfect foundation. Lee dominated the bowling attack with a blistering 43 off just 23 deliveries and struck the only two sixes of the contest. Her attacking innings earned her the Player of the Match award.

After the explosive start, Brave experienced a brief slowdown in the middle overs as Phoenix managed to tighten their grip. However, Jemimah Rodrigues ensured the innings finished on a high. Remaining unbeaten on 18, she struck three boundaries in the final five balls of the innings to lift Southern Brave to a competitive total of 140.

Sophie Molineux leads from the front as Southern Brave remain unbeaten

Birmingham Phoenix began their chase confidently through openers Davina Perrin and Tammy Beaumont, who shared a promising 73-run partnership and briefly put the visitors in control. Beaumont contributed 22 before her dismissal triggered a dramatic collapse. Perrin continued to battle and completed a well-made 52 from 43 balls, but once she departed, Phoenix’s hopes faded quickly.

Southern Brave’s bowlers maintained relentless pressure during the closing stages, with captain Molineux delivering the decisive blows. She struck twice in consecutive deliveries to derail the chase completely as Birmingham Phoenix finished on 116/5, falling 24 runs short.

The victory extended Southern Brave’s flawless start to four wins from four matches, strengthening their position at the top of the points table. For Birmingham Phoenix, the defeat extended a difficult campaign, leaving them rooted to the bottom as they continue their search for momentum in The Hundred Women’s competition 2026.
