To celebrate the upcoming release of the bold new Netflix film Ladies First, we had the pleasure of chatting with the cast and filmmakers at the film’s premiere yesterday (May 17th) in London.
A ladies’ man finds his life upended when he wakes up in a parallel world dominated by women. With the rules of engagement changed, he goes head-to-head with a fiery female colleague in a playful satire about what happens when the script is flipped.
Speaking with Rosamund Pike (Alex), Sacha Baron Cohen (Damien), Charles Dance (Richard), Fiona Shaw (Vivienne) and director Thea Sharrock, who directed Wicked Little Letters and Me Before You, discuss the film’s flipped gender dynamics, power, satire, objectification and the complicated relationships at the heart of the story, alongside the process of building the film’s immersive “flip world”, balancing comedy with uncomfortable truths, and what drew them all to such a provocative project, plus much more.
Synopsis:
An arrogant but charismatic ladies’ man finds his life of money, power and casual flings upended when he wakes up in a parallel world dominated by women.
