Are you ready fore it? Netflix has just dropped a teaser trailer for its upcoming sports-comedy series The Hawk, starring comedy legend Will Ferrell.
In the show, Ferrell plays golfer Lonnie Hawkins, “one of the greatest names in golf history, that you’re somehow only just hearing about.” Ferrell also created and executive-produced the 10-episode series.
“In golf, there is a saying: play it as it lies,” Hawkins narrates in the teaser. And that’s exactly what the aspiring champion will do, whether the ball is lying at the bottom of a sand trap or flying into an innocent pedestrian’s face. Have a sip of “Lonnie juice” and find out for yourself if golf is as easy as this guy makes it look.” (via TUDUM)
Ferrell’s co-stars include the likes of Molly Shannon (Stacy, Lonnie’s ex-wife), Jimmy Tatro (Lance, Lonnie’s son and also a pro golfer), Fortune Feimster (Sam, Lonnie’s caddie), Luke Wilson (rival golfer Golden Fisk), and Chris Parnell (Anton, a PGA Tour board member).
This adds another sport to Ferrell’s comedy bow after tackling ice skating in Blades of Glory, basketball in Semi-Pro, football in Kicking and Screaming and NASCAR in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
Synopsis:
Lonnie Hawkins, 2004’s number one golfer, struggles on the back nine of his career to recapture his magic. His body says retire, but his heart says he’s not done yet. His ex-wife and his son, Lance, golf’s new golden boy, know he’s through. But with one more major to win to complete golf’s Grand Slam, Lonnie refuses to believe he’s anything other than one stroke away from the greatest comeback in golf history.
The Hawk is set to release on Netflix on July 16th.
