Willow Smith Admits ‘We’re Living In Really Dark Times’ In Speech

Willow Smith is leaning into love, light, and creativity, even as the world feels heavy.

The daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith has long been open about her thoughts, often serving as a ray of light for others. This time, she is reflecting on the state of the world and encouraging people to stay hopeful and creative.

Meanwhile, her mother is navigating a legal battle and has taken steps to have the case dismissed.

The 25-year-old singer recently acknowledged that life feels heavy and chaotic right now. “We know that we’re living in really dark times,” she said in a video interview on TikTok. “We just get like different flavors and right now, it’s a really spicy flavor of darkness that we are experiencing.”

Despite the challenges, Smith explained that her focus is on creating art and spreading hope, whether through music or conversation.

“I want to remind people that we’re more than this BS that’s going on,” Smith shared. “Like humans are deeply caring and empathic creatures, and I think we sometimes forget that and become distrustful.”

The “Whip My Hair” hitmaker added that while music is a connector, she wants it to be meaningful. Her heartfelt speech drew attention from her fans, who cheered.

One internet user interpreted what Willow said, writing, “What she’s trying to say is she’s rich, and she just wants to be creative. And feel like she’s giving back to the world.”

A second fan shared that Smith gives her hope, while another said they would love their children to grow up like Willow and her brother, Jaden Smith.

A fourth user added, “Some hopeful words for us creatives and those who want relief from this madness who might want to create and not take, take, take.”

While Willow’s recent hopeful speech earned praise from fans, not all of her updates have been met with the same warmth.

In a past post, which The Blast reported, she shared a tearful photo with the caption: “Who ate all the p-ssy.”

In no time, fans scrutinized the image, weighing in with several comments. While some followers brushed it off as a joke, others questioned her well-being.

“Is she ok? She does not seem like she’s ok,” one concerned social media user wrote on X. 

Some even accused Willow of overreacting. “Why are all Will Smith’s kids so thirsty for attention?” one user asked. 

The conversation soon shifted toward her sexuality, despite Willow already being open about identifying as bisexual and polyamorous.

While Willow embraces living life on her own terms, her father, Will Smith, has been candid about the challenges of raising his children.

According to The Blast, the Grammy winner confessed that he and Pinkett Smith made a major mistake, choosing to go with “radical honesty” as part of their parenting approach. 

The “Bad Guys” actor explained that the agreement was that if they told the truth, there would be no consequences. 

However, the plan backfired. Will revealed that instead of fostering accountability, it gave the children free will to do as they pleased and admitted it afterward.

While acknowledging his and Pinkett Smith’s flaw with bringing up their kids, the two have also been candid about where they stand in their marriage. They revealed they were living separate lives while still married. 

Even though they are not romantically together, Will and Pinkett Smith appeared cordial as they attended their son’s first collection launch at Paris Fashion Week in January. 

As The Blast reported, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” actor kept it casual with pants, a white shirt, and a baseball hat, while Pinkett Smith rocked a strapless dress and accessorized with sunglasses.

Before the fashion show, the couple was last seen in September last year at a lunch date in Malibu, California. 

Amid recent family appearances, Pinkett Smith is facing legal tension involving her husband’s longtime associate, Bilaal Salaam.

Salaam previously filed an action, alleging that Pinkett Smith physically assaulted him during Will’s 2021 birthday celebration.

However, in a new move, Pinkett Smith has filed a motion to dismiss the claim. According to The Blast, she argued the claims fall under California’s anti-SLAPP statute, designed to eliminate meritless suits tied to protected activity. 

Her filing stated that Salaam made false, uncorroborated allegations in media interviews about Will to gain attention and harass her family.
